MUCH better than 8! 07/07/2014
This review is from: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit
Pros:
Stable, easy install, 64-bit supports lots of RAM, good software and hardware compatibility,
Cons:
Can't buy the "retail" version that lets you install on 3 machines anymore. This makes it expensive if you're wanting to install it on more than one machine. Also, who is the guy at Microsoft with the microscopic vision? Jeez, guy, at least supply a cheap plastic magnifier for the rest of us!
Overall Review:
My company had been using WinXP for several years, and it was fine. However, when Microsoft quit supporting it, the "upgraded" all the company machines to Win8. Oh, my! Nothing but problems. Software incompatibility, hardware (printers, mostly) incompatibility, and many other difficulties. Somehow, they managed to swing some sort of deal and "downgraded" to Win7 Pro 64-bit. All the problems miraculously went away! If you're planning on upgrading an older computer, stick with Win7 - as long as it meets the minimum hardware requirements. Win 8 just has too many potential problems for me to be able to recommend it.
