Best MB I have ever owned 05/24/2015
This review is from: ASRock Z97 Extreme6/ac LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros:
I build a new PC from scratch every couple of years, and have been doing so since the late 1980's. Mostly gaming and business app rig. This is my first asrock motherboard, and I am completely satisfied with it. Definitely delivers on all of the great reviews I read while researching. Primary reason I chose this was for all the features of course, but specifically I was looking for something that could take full advantage of the new samsung M.2 SSD drives as a boot drive. I can confirm that you can get either or both Samsung XP941 and/or SM951 to boot in this MB, in either m.2 slot. Requires latest bios to detect the SM951 (v1.60 of bios or later). Also requires (at least it did for me) that win8.1 be installed from a USB drive in order for the proper UEFI layer to load. I was unsuccessful trying to get win8.1 pro to load from DVD, copied to bootable USB and worked first try. Bios options are awesome. Used the "easy overclock" feature to take my i7-4790k from stock 4.0ghz to 4.5ghz without issue. Also running ram at 2400mhz and it is very very fast, dramatic measurable improvement over stock 1333mhz rate. I cannot think of one way to improve this motherboard.
Cons:
none
