This review is from: NVIDIA Gift - The Division
Pros:
-It runs well
-It looks good graphically
-Lots of unlocks and gear
-Came free with my gpu
-Good party up system
Cons:
-Poor ai mobs that you constantly grind through
-Walking from objective to objective
-Destruction system nowhere near what it claimed to be
-Difficult shooting that was usually present in Clancy games has been nerfed massively and now lies somewhere between arcade and realistic while not doing either adjective justice.
-Annoying uplay client that no one likes
-No steam functionality i.e. achievements, trading, cards etc even if you purchase through Steam.
-Lackluster character creation
-While the game looks good everything looks pretty much the same everywhere you go.
Overall Review:
I didn't have this game on my radar but didn't expect it be a flop either as lots of people seemed to be very excited for it. On paper it sounds great: A mix of Destiny and Stalker taking place in the best recreation of NYC since GTA 4. Unfortunately the gameplay is so basic and repetitive the game just fails to gain hold of my interest. The best way I could describe it would be a 3rd person Diablo but take everything cool about Diablo, like way you build your characters or the way the game keeps you on your toes from the very beginning with different mobs, and replace that with a slow march and a lot of taking cover and generic shooting. Sure the loot drops are still there but when the gameplay itself isn't engaging it doesn't matter how many items they throw at you. On another note this is the perfect example of typical Ubisoft. There is a outline or a shell of a game here that given a longer development cycle could have been great. Most of the time that's how Ubi leaves me feeling after a game but at least it's usually not terrible and ends up being decent, sadly Division leans more towards terrible than decent.
