Mostly Good, one Caveat (Initial Review) 05/07/2017
This review is from: MSI Gaming 970 Gaming AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 and SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros:
A. For the price, including the mail-in rebate (I usually have good luck with them, the price couldn't be beat at my time of purchase.)
B. Good, black and red, color for those looking for such (and that have a window in their case.)
Cons:
1. (Minor) I remember a time when system boards came with 4 SATA cables instead of 2.
2. (Minor) As others have stated, the thick paper manual is mostly that way due to multiple language instructions. However, for an mid to advanced builder, you won't likely run into any issues.
3. (Major) After testing, my board has a wiring fault with one of the standoff holes. (Yes, this was as annoying as it seems it could be to determine.) In the end, I simply didn't use that standoff for attaching the board to my case.
Overall Review:
Used as part of a hardware refresh for a media center computer following my gaming desktop's upgrade:
AMD FX-8320
2 x 8 GB ram (Crucial Ballistix BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0)
Windows 10 Pro Creator's Update
Note: Within the UEFI, make sure to look at the temperature and fan profiles. Due to the way my "small" ATX desktop style case has its fans plugged into the board, I had to adjust the fan profiles for the Sys Fan 1 to work with the CPU temp. instead of the CPU fan header.
After proper burn-in, this review will be updated.
