Does this laptop have a backlit keyboard?  Some pics show it and some don't?  In specs say non-backlit?

The specs are correct.  This has a non-backlit keyboard, however, the laptop itself is fantastic and is well worth the price.

How do I tell if it has a CD Drive?

I can just tell you, having bought this laptop already, it doesn't have one. However, you can buy one online that is external for under $100.

I am hoping this unit will take a mouse, will it?

And I assume that my tv will work cuz the tv has a monitor in it.

I sit across the room for computer videos and that's why I need to use my mouse. (don't have cable so I never use the TV part of it).

In my opinion this is not the type of computer for a T.V. since it has no internal CD/DVD. 
It will take a USB mouse and I would recommend getting an external USB mouse and keyboard combo. It also has an old School VGA 15 pin connector and an HDMI for video so your T.V. would need that type off connector or you would need a convertor.
The Specs specifically state no T.V out port [which combines audio and video] this will work but you will have connect two cables though one for your audio [speakers] and the other for video.

Does it come with one battery or two? By two meaning a regular battery and the extended battery.

One battery only, the extended one. It kinda protrudes down a bit and some may find it uncomfortable when the laptop is in your lap.

It's right at 4.2 to 4.5 lbs. It's not bad at all. And despite what these spec's say it WILL hold 16GB of RAM. I'm typing this on mine with 16GB of RAM in it right now.

Mine came with 1 x 4GB of DDR3.

And despite what the documentation says you can run 16GB max (2 x 8GB) in it. I bought a matched pair of Corsair 8GB SO-DIMM's.

I don't have it in front of me right now, but it I'm sure it is 13" wide. It does not have a CDrom drive, which I didn't know when I bought it.

Can you suggest a specific DDR3?   I would like to order another stick of 4GB when I order machine.  Don't those things have some kind of extra number (speed or something).
