Pros: Very nice price. Beautiful display
Cons: This monitor required a PCI video card to enable HDMI sound through built-in speakers and to achieve full screen display.
Overall Review: The Acer display arrived in great shape and was easily setup using an HDMI connection. However, there seemed to be no possible way to enable the built-in speakers. Most of the comments that I found on Google seemed to indicate that either the speakers didn't work, or the sound quality was so bad that no one would use them anyway. A second issue that I had was that there seemed to no way to make the display go to full screen mode. There was a 1" black band on the sides and a 1/2" black band on the top and bottom. After re-installing a pair of old external speakers, I continued to research the black bands around the display. All of the images for the monitor displayed here on NewEgg and on other retailers showed a full screen display. The computer is a home built model using an AMD processor and a Gigabyte GA-78LMT motherboard. On a whim I decided to install an old AMD HD Radeon 6570 video card that I had lying around. Suddenly I had a full screen display and the built-in speakers on the monitor began working. I don't know whether this is something that should be disclosed in the documentation or not, but it might help others configure this monitor for their use. Also, I don't know whether an Intel-based motherboard would have the same issues. All said and done, I am pleased with the Acer KA251Q 24.5" Monitor that I received from NewEgg at a sale price.
