Pros: I installed this card in to my home Ubuntu file server to run its 22 hard drives. So far this card has worked like a champ. The install looks a lot cleaner going from 22 SATA cables to just six SAS cables. It's probably overkill for a home server, but I got tired of dealing with drives falling out of arrays when under high IO load.
Cons: Monitoring software for Ubuntu seems to be lacking. I had to flash my motherboard's BIOS to get the system to POST after the card was installed. Afterwards I got a lot of kernel warnings until I also flashed the card's firmware. It's running solid now though. The card ran at 150F until I installed a fan next to it. Now it's down to 105.
Overall Review: Very pricey, but probably worth it. I debated dropping an egg due to the monitoring software for Ubuntu, but it's such a good card I hate to drop it to a four. It's probably a 4.5.
