I suggest going to the ASUS website like I did and looking it up. Just type asus prime x399-a motherboard into your search engine and you will be surprised to find a link directly to ASUS's webpage for that board. Then just click on support and you will see a grey box on the left side that has CPU/Memory Support in it. click on that.

Will this work on an AMD motherboard?

Yes I have it running in an Asus x370 prime pro motherboard, the speed is as listed only 3000 but for the price it is good.  It is also accepted in dcop profile, so solid so far had no problems with this ram.

I did buy 2 sets so in the future I can go 32gb  one is also in a MSI x370 sli plus with no problems. So in future might combine and get 32gb but great price at this speed.  It is Hynix memory but that might be only mine.

I accidentally purchased this RAM for use with a CPU that only supports 2400 MHz memory bandwidth. Can I underclock this RAM to 2400 MHz with the motherboard so that it'll work?

Not only is that a yes, but depending on your motherboard it should be very easy. Find a RAM overclocking tutorial, you should be able to use it to underclock as well.

Hello, The Height clearance is not listed on that cooler so I cannot confirm but based on what is pictured, the heatsink will likely go over the DIMM slots on a smaller motherboard so i would check with both Be Quiet and XPG to find out if there will be clearance issues. I just went to the site and see that it is out of stock. But I also went to the ASUS website and it says this motherboard supports DDR4 memory so I would say yes. Go to the site and check the specs.
