I have an Asus Crosshair formula V formula-z with 3 GTX 470's in SLI with a 1000 watt power supply. I recently upgraded my CPU to the FX 9370 and whenever the windows system rating was accessing the performance for my CPU it would shut off, it would also shut off within 15-20 minutes on idle. Is this because of over heat? Could I fix this with a expensive heat sink and fan or do I have to use a water cooler? Also, could the power supply be an issue too?

I have been gaming and building computers for 10 years. I have build 8 1k+ rigs. The 4.4-8core is a natural over clocked chip. You can buy it as the chip, or the chip+factory supplied water cooler.  The chip is suppose to have a water cooler. Amd only provides them If its tipicaly a must have. I personally would get the corsair 110i(280mm) or 100i water cooler(240mm). That's my recommendation. If you get ether of those coolers, (make sure they can mount on DUO top fan case.) it's a radiator with 2 fans that mounts. BUT with these coolers you can even over clock the 4.4 to an easy 4.7 stable clock. Anything past that speed i dont know how far it can clock. Maybe 4.8-5? But yes, you do need a water cooler. If you can't afford 100$ than get the best non water cooler you can find that fits.

i bought Cooler Master Hyper D92, since i did not see if this came with a cooling system. did i do the right thing?

I think it depends on what your doing with your PC build. Mine came with a cpu fan, but I didn't use it. I bought a good one also and recently upgraded to a water cooler. If your doing nothing but surfing and office stuff, I think the oem fan would be sufficient but if your doing any gaming or burning dvd's I would definitely get an upgraded cpu cooler.

Does this processor come with the liquid cooling kit?

sorry for the late reply bro... Nope, it does not come with the liquid cooling kit. I believe the one that you want is also available here on new egg, the only difference is that it will cost you a little bit more. I think it's better to buy the liquid cooling unit, that way you can really get something better.

what kind of mother board is required for this?

as the description says, socket am3+. check motherboard specs on each companies website to see if this cpu is supported. the fact is, i am using an 8350 and overclocking it to 4.8 ghz now, so i honestly dont see much reason to buy this more expensive and more hungry cpu. you will need a water cooler though, like the h100. and a big power supply (overclocking to 4.8 can approximately double the power consumption of the 8350, or, to put it another way, it is like adding a full size graphics card to the system, in terms of power consumption).

I know this may be dumb but does this come with a liquid cooler?

The AMD FX-9370 Vishera 4.4Ghz, came with the Corsair H80i Liquid Cooler. It was a bundle package, so far my Computer is working as a LIGHTNING !!!

Question 6

Does this CPU come with a heat-sync and fan? The description doesn't say it does.

It does not come with one. I had to look up what would work with it. Noctua was the best solution i found to cool this monster aside from the H-100 liquid cooling. I didnt want liquid/water so i went with the Noctua.
You can go to their website and check it out. I would compare the h-100 and the noctua and see which one u like better.
U will have to pop out the factory latches on the motherboard and put in what the ones noctua comes with.
It does keep it cool though. Normal temp is around 65-68 degrees c.

Question 7

Can you use this CPU with a r9 290x or r9 290? If no, what are the higher end GPUs that you can use for this processor?

I've never, in my 17+ years of working with computers, heard of restrictions between CPUs and GPUs. The only time it would matter would be when you put a high end GPU together with a very low end processor. That only defeats the purpose, yet still possible. Though I will recommend you do research on the Passmark website. It's the most used benchmarking tool there is. And it gives good comparable results. Other than that you would be fine with a 290x and this CPU so long as you have the appropriate motherboard.

I have an MSI 760g AM3+ motherboard 725w PSU and an ASUS GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB, FX-6100. Will this be compatible as an upgrade from the 6100?

Yes it may likely work without any additional steps. But you may have to update your BIOS since this chip is so new. In my case, I updated the BIOS for my Asus M5A97 before I installed the chip, just to be safe and because the new BIOS claimed to support the newest chips. It's working wonderfully with no problems! Updating your BIOS is easy now compared to the old days, just follow the instructions for your board and/or check the MSI website.

Question 9

What mother board supports this CPU? I tried finding one but I could not. I need a MB that had 2 PCI 2.0 graphics card slots and supports this CPU. The price should be around $70 to $120

I purchased the Asrock 990fx Extreme 9 Am3+ AMD. There are two others listed in the description of the processor. All 3 should work. As a warning. I encountered an issue installing the usb 3.0 driver. Had to force windows to search for driver on the disc. Using the app on the disc resulted in blue screen. Even now the driver is supposedly not signed. So i have to boot using the disable driver signature enforcement. Very annoying. Id suggest one of the other two mobos. Other than the driver issue. The board is excellent. This issue will probably be solved with a driver update. So dont count it out.

No, in this particular package no cooler is included just the CPU.
Note: This CPU runs hot under full load  (220w TDC) 
As such recommend a water cooler, I picked up a Corsair H90 and have never looked back,
