I'm sure it will. This RAM is very stable and I have had a lot of luck with these in APU builds especially. I would recommend it but for your board I would possibly see if you could get something even faster but that's your own prerogative.

I love them and they work great, I bought them mainly to try out. If you're wanting to OC to 2133MHz I'd recommend getting a set of 2133MHz memory, it'll cost a little more but it'll eliminate one potential problem from the overclock. Benchmarks have shown little tangible difference between 1866MHz and 2133MHz, except in the case of APUs. I bought this memory for my little A-series mITX build that mounts to the back of my monitor.

As for your RAMDisk, you most likely notice any difference. If I were you I'd order 32GB of 1866MHz GeiL, G.Skill or Crucial, not only do they cost a little less per GB in general, but they're also good brands. You'll get more benefit from the large RAMDisk. I run 32GB of 1866MHz in my gaming machine and and have a 24GB RAMDisk I use for my swapfile and 8GB for RAM. Of course I also run a pair of SSDs in RAID 0 as well. My CPU is an FX8350 as well. My best friend runs the same CPU and runs 16GB of 1600MHz memory and a pair of SSDs in RAID 0 and there's not much noticeable difference in the performance of our machines.

the AP398G186Y1K I believe is unbuiffered it also a cl9 time setting and honestly works best when paired with an amd processor so just a heads up.

Is this single or dual-rank modules?

The motherboard I used for this ram doesn't seem to support banks in A1+B1, it "boots" but is hella unstable. A1+A2 is the only way the system boots in a way that is conducive to use. Reference purposes, the motherboard is Asus A88BM-A and for the most part it's great, just not as easy to set up as anticipated.

What's the power consumption from an 8GB set (2x4GBs) of these babies?

No idea.  The previous build I had used a 1200watt PSU.  The new rig I just built uses a 650watt PSU (it's a CAD/Civil 3D workstation).  So, for me, it consumes about half of what the last one did ... and that makes me very happy.

Is this compatible with 2nd gen cores?

Do you mean AMD's second gen APUs? If so then yes. Actually I don't see why it wouldn't be compatible with any of AMD's (or even Intel's) desktop CPU/APUs of the last several years.

Being DDR3 RAM, (which has been around since about 2007) and 1866MHz, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

I'd say, check your motherboard manual and see that it is DDR3/1866 compatible first.

For reference, I run this with an AMD FX-8350 (roughly a year old) and it works well.
