What kind of HSF cooler is recommended for this unit?

Remember, just because a cooler is listed on the AMD site as "supporting" the thread ripper, doesn't mean it does it well.

I had an issue where my first cooler from the list, from corsair, was listed as supported, so it fit the socket layout, but the contact area was too small and would get thermal throttle under full load after 15 min.

Ended up getting one (coolmaster) that was made just for the threadripper, with a large plate that covered the whole chip. This has worked for me for past 9 months. However it seems they stopped making it.

where would i find a cpu cooler for this i don't see any on here?

I just put the Thermaltake AIO 360 cooler/rad combo in my recent i9-9900K build and have been SUPER disappointed. There's just not enough cooling fluid or efficiency (INHO) to cool down this CPU when under multiple loads (Premier, AE, PS, LR, Etc). I've seen the temps reach 96deg average running all cores at 4.75ghz and Blender reached between 98 to 110deg - fans and AIO pump at 100%. I'm building the new Threadripper 3960x or 3970X (whichever CPU becomes available 1st in my area) and going with a custom water cooling solution into dual Thermaltake 480mm and 360mm rads this time. I'm using an EK Threadripper CPU water block this time so I will report the temps in a week or two after some benchmarks and a Blender run. I'm sure an AIO would be fine from Thermaltake or others if your work loads are light or you're gaming and surfing the web, but not for serious multi-thread workloads...

B&H photo will have this processor in stock on Jan. 6th according to their website for $1,999.00. Is Jan. 6th around the time Newegg will have it back in stock as well?

Nobody but AMD and their retail partners know when they'll be back in stock. Check that site again; you have the date and the price wrong (unless you're not in the US - then it might be different).
