I bought this and mounted a WD red 2TB drive in it.  It works fine on a USB 3.0 port but it will not work on a USB 2.0 port.  I've tried it on several systems.  AMS tech support said to send it back.  Anyone else had this problem?  also, it says it's backwards compatible in the datasheet

Yes it does work with USB2. Backed up my sons Dell laptop with USB2 only ports to the Venus and worked great. Have hooked up other things to and worked just fine. Use the USB3 cord that came with the Venus. If you are using a longer cord or a USB2 cord it could be an issue. USB3 is very fussy with longer cords. Won't read right for some reason. Had a USB3 hub that would not work with a longer USB3 cord. Keep disconnecting. Put the short one that came with it back on and the problem went away. If the Venus does not pick up USB2 with the original cord then I agree. Send it back. Hope this helps.
