Do the fans come with the case or just for looks?

Yes the fans come with the case, and they have blue LEDs.  One thing of note is that each fan is variable speed and has connections to the motherboard.  The motherboard I used for this build only had two ports for fans and I had to wire the other fans directly into the power supply.

How does this computer work for gaming?

A case doesn't make a gaming computer; It's what you put inside. There was plenty of room for my rig and I'm sure it be the same for most. Computer stays cool with all the fans that are already installed that is true. Take your time building and looking for parts and you should have it.

Will this be able to fit a 10.5" Graphics Card, specifically an EVGA GeForce GTX 780?

I recently built a friend a computer using this case. The video card measured 8.3" x 5.2" x 1.5", as stated by the NewEgg product page for it (for reference, the card used was a Asus GTX660 TI-DC2OC-3GD5 GeForce GTX 660 Ti Graphic Card). I would be quite iffy if you had a 10.5" card going in there---it might fit, but the two factors of its tail end and running the power cords to it will likely rob you of hard drive spaces.

Has anyone had problems with the front mic jack on this case? i cant seem to get it to work. Any suggestions please feel free

I haven't had any problems other than one that was my fault. I didn't check to see if it would fit my vidieo card. It did but it was really close. :>)
As to your problem, have you checked to make sure you have the wires correct? There should be one labled as a mic. and it needs to go to the pins on your MB labled for the mic. That's the only thing I can think of, other than you might have some kind of hardware problem. Wire broke or something wrong with the pins on your MB.

Will my XFX r9 280X fit into this comfortably?

I have a AMD HD 7790 and it fits really well with my ATX mobo. Though if you are going to crossfire it will get a little bit tight.

does this use the driver-less thumb screws or real Phillips screws?

The side panels are thumb screws, and it comes with a box full of thumb screws for cards. The thread is the same as standard case screws (I used standard screws for the pci cards).

Is this compatible with Micro ATX?

It only supports ATX A and B (stated in my manual for this case). So in theory yes it SHOULD work.

Does a ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard fit in there?

Your ASUS Z87 ATX motherboard is 12" x 8.8", which one of the larger sized ATX motherboards.

I have installed  a Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H ( 9.6 " x 8.9" )and also and a ASUS P5N-D (12" x 9.6" ) Motherboards in the Antec 300 case.  It is a very good case for keeping things cool.

Keep in mind , the SATA connectors are on the edge of your motherboard, You might find the area needed to reeach in and plug the SATA connectors a little tight. Small hands, long fingers, help.

Does the computer come built? Or do I have to build it?

Well you only have the case here in the question, but if you're asking about the DIY kit then yes, you have to build it your self

Do the external drive doors come completely off or do they just fold down?  I want to put a card reader in one.

The 5' drive bay covers come completely off. They can also be put back in. I have an optical drive and a fan controller in mine.
