What is the difference between this model of the antec 300 vs. the "newer" version of the antec 300 that newegg has posted a link for on this model's product page?

The newer model comes with the 2 front mounted fans with blue led light for a total of 4. The older model comes with only rear and top mounted fans, with no lights. Get the older model, unless you like annoying blue lights.

Question 2

Just purchased this unit and have finished assembly. Is an audible "beep"-(speaker) at  initital boot no longer used? Been a few years since my last build.

Hi there!

The audible "beep" is not necessary after you complete your build and install windows, however, I do keep mine in anyway, because if something weird happens 3 years down the road the 2-3 beep at start up can quickly get you on your way to knowing even before windows starts that there is a problem, immediately gets you on track for diagnosis, and at least I know that I pressed the power button hard enough.

Beeper is not necessary, but I like it!

does the front of this case have 2 2.0 usb or 2 3.0 usb because ive seen a video with it having 2 3.0usb?

When I bought this case a year ago, it had two USB 2.0 sockets mounted in it.  I contacted Antec directly through their website's customer support.  I asked customer support if I could get a front panel upgrade kit with USB 3.0 cables.  They told me that if I sent in my receipt, they'd send me that front panel upgrade kit, gratis!  So, if your case comes with two USB 2.0 sockets, contact Antec's customer support and ask for a USB 3.0 upgrade and they'll send it to you for FREE!!!  Yay, Antec Customer Support rocks!!!

Does this computer case have a spot for SSD's?

Yes, on the bottom near the front...its kinda cool, but there is only one.  You can always mount them in a 2.5 inch adapter in the 3.5 inch bay.

How many non-filled Fan Slots does this case have? And what size Fans do these slots support?

The two front fans for the hard drives and the side door fan are not there. What are the dimensions of this tower? I have an older desk with tower space built in and I want to make sure it will fit with no problems before I buy it. Thanks in advance.

The dimensions of the Antec 300 ATX Mid Tower Computer Case are as follow:

8 1/8 " wide (this include the grill for a side panel fan that sticks out of the side panel a little)

18 1/4 " deep (from front to back NOT including room needed for exhaust fan and power cord)

18" height (from the bottom of case to the top).  Note that the case has a fan on the top of the case and you may need to allow room for air circulation or turn that fan off.

I was wondering what the dimensions are for the GPU slots? I have a HIS 7870 which is almost 12 inches long, and need to make sure it will fit without conflict with the HD bays.

The Antec 300 Two case is much better and supports 12.5 inch graphic cards.  Antec 300 Two case has outside switches for the two included fans, ssd mounts, cpu slot for a fan underneath the motherboard and grommets for water cooling, and USB 3.0 front connectors.

Question 8

I see two fan trays at the front of the case.  My interest is in (a) seeing if the front is filtered and (b) do the fan trays take 120mm or 140mm fans?  (The reason is that this case makes an excellent low-cost home server case)

Yup, the front is filtered (relatively easy to access for cleaning, front just swings out when you depress the tabs) and fairly confident it takes standard 120mm fans (may still want to double check).

If you click the "Newer item available" link on the page, it'll point you to the same case with the two fans preinstalled.  Last time I bought, it was the same price or very close to this one.

Would a EVGA Geforce 770 fit in this case?

I don't know about that specific combo, but there is a very helpful website called pc part picker .com, where you can enter all the parts in your configuration and it will tell you of any compatibility issues.  This really helps with a new build on Newegg--you can just enter all the parts by item #, and it will warn you in advance if anything won't fit/isn't compatible etc.

Question 10

I'd like to mount an external card reader in one of the lower 3.5" bays. Is there an adapter or anything available to permit that so it can project from the lower front grill?

YES , it be done by purchasing a Antec 300 5.25 adapter for this case . I believe Newegg sells them as well or do a search online for the adapter.
