will this work or fit a Dell Inspiron 4150?

I can't speak to that model from personal experience, but as long as it has a USB port, it should work just fine.  If you're looking to take the hard drive from the 4150 and use it with this, then the hard drive must be SATA, not IDE.  Based on how old the 4150 model is, it is almost certainly IDE.

Question 2

I want to use this product to clone my existing Laptop hardrive to a SSD hardrive, then plug the SSD into my laptop and have be able to boot up like nothing had changed (except that it will be faster)

Will this product allow me to do that?

I have used this and other options to clone hard drives in a large tower PC and a laptop, going from a standard HDD to a newer SSD. However, I had problems with both NOT being bootable. And I did this 2-3 times each but continued to have the same problem. I even tried Windows System Repair disc and it would NOT REPAIR the problem.

THEN I accidentally tried Macrium Reflect "System Repair Disc" and it worked LIKE A CHARM.

I started using Macrium Reflect, the FREE version, back in March of this year to do all of my backups, and I had 4 opportunities to use it back in August. I had a brand new HDD that kept crashing, eventually it gave me the old click-click-click of a dying hard drive. But it DID restore my backups each time. I don't recall exactly but I also had problems with making the restore BOOTABLE, but then the Microsoft Windows System Repair Disc DID work. It was only when I tried cloning an old HDD to a new SSD that ONLY the Macrium Reflect 'System Repair Disc' worked to FIX the problem and MAKE my new SSDs bootable.

Question 3

I purchased an ADAP Vantech CB-ISATAU2 adapter from New Egg and when I received it the adapter would not fit my 2.5 SATA hard drive.  Will this adapter work with a 2.5 SATA hard drive?

Yes, this USB adapter fits 2.5 SATA harddrives. One thing to note... if you pulled the SATA harddrive out of a laptop, sometimes laptop manufacturers put cases or adapters on their harddrives to fit better, or be more secure or whatever in their laptops. I work on HP Elitebooks and Probooks a lot at work and I know they do it for sure. They have a thin metal adapter/housing on the harddrive. The metal of the housing blocks the plastic of the USB adapter. you have to remove any housing / adapter on the harddrives before you try to use the USB adapter on them.

Can this be used to get information off of a hard drive?

Yes, I have used many times when I have had to retrieve data from a hard drive. It's very simple to use sort of like moving data to a flash drive. Hook the hard drive up and plug the cord into your usb port, the system will recognize the new drive and you can open folders and move files.

Does the current software include windows 8 compatibility?

Well, you will need to download the update for the software off of APRICORN's site.  I think with enough tweaking you could probably get it to work with Windows 8.  However, my Windows 8.1 system has a UEFI BIOS and a GPT boot partition (no more MBR).  I couldn't get the Apricorn software to work with my new SSD drive.  It may have been me, however.  Instead I purchased the excellent Paragon Hard Disk Manager, which I'd kinda been wanting to get for some of its other features.  It cloned the volume correctly the first time using this cable and my system booted right up.  You might need to talk to Apricorn's tech support about Windows 8 if you have a UEFI and GPT configuration.

Could this be used instead of an external exclosure to put music storage on a 2.5" Samsung Evo SSD drive for use with a Mac Airbook?
