Is this compatible with U.2 Intel 730 series drives?  If so then will you see the full performance of those drives?

Intel 730 series SSD should work with Areca card.  If under only one single drive, there is NO performance gain, merely pending on drive's performance (each different drive varies, please check drive mfrs technical data).  However, the more drives you connect with Areca card, the higher bandwidth combined it will obtain, thus performance increase.  Especially, ARC-1883ix series is SAS3 12GBs controller card, it outperforms under multiple drives environment.
