How often does the battery need recharging?

Pretty rarely, but it depends greatly on how much video it takes. My front door camera captures a couple dozen videos every day of a quiet residential street and lasts about a month. My back door camera mostly takes videos of my dog and last several months between recharges.

Can I install a Arlo pro 2 on a 4 year old Arlo pro base station? or any other Arlo models?

I believe so. I mix them in my Argo ( not pro) setup, it works.

Motion detection is adjustable and depends on the light. At ~80%, it detects cars ~80ft away and people ~30ft away. Also, FYI, this is an add on camera and will not work only by itself.
