Will this have windows 10 now?

When we got it, it came with Windows 8.1.

Win 10 is free for anyone w/ Win 7/8/8.1 for the first year or two.

I'm not sure if it comes installed, but you can definitely install the upgrade to win10.

Question 2

I bought the laptop. It shows that I have a total storage space of 217.2 GB. The listed was 256GB. I looked uop online and typically they only have a storage space of 93% of what should be there. I am missing 15% of the space though. Any explanations?

I had a similar problem, and found that the space was being used by the System Volume Information.  It seems to be a problem of SSD drives in particular. Use google and search for "How can I recover disk space used up by System Volume Information". Follow the directions and you will get your 15% back.

If you do nothing the System Volume Information will continue to grow and you will slowly eat up your disk in a few years.

Question 3

What color does it come in?

Mine is a very dark blue - almost black.  When open, the plastic surrounding the keyboard is silver, as in the photo.  I did not have a choice as to color when I ordered.

Question 4

So do 2.5" hard drives fit or not?  Some people say yes and some say no.  It seems like this was never resolved.  If yes, can I please have the specific size, type (SSD vs. HD/SATA or SATA II or SATA III), and brand(SanDisk vs Samsung etc.) of hard drive that you added THAT ACTUALLY FIT so I don't buy one that doesn't fit?

First off yes it does fit 2.5 inch drives, but they must be 7mm not 9mm tall. Personally I used a hdd but you should be able to use a ssd. As far as connections go I don't know what specific connection it uses. I just know it's a normal SATA conection nothing crazy.

Question 5

I see this has an HDMI port. Can it be used in a dual monitor config where I can either extend my desktop onto the second screen or duplicate my desktop onto the second screen?

In short: yes.

Long form: In most cases, I haven't had a laptop that won't do it. I used to use an HP laptop from '08 that had intel graphics. It could still support a second monitor. You should have no issues running a second display on this laptop.

How many ram slots one or two?

2 channels. Here is a readout from my laptop, which I purchased a few weeks ago. Hope this helps.

PS., Don't worry about the comments on "blurry screen" or "low screen quality". Those users just haven't run the "ClearType" config from within windows. Run that, and you'll be fine.

I would like more storage than just 256GB. Does the EB71(i7) model have an expansion bay which would enable installation of a second drive?

Yes it does.  I just popped the case to upgrade the RAM and I can confirm it does have an empty sata bay.

Is the GPU using GDDR5 or DDR3 for the video memory?

According to the Asus store page (not allowed to link, just paste the model number into the search bar on their website) this 950 is the version equipped with GDDR5.

No, it does not. It comes with Windows 8.1 preinstalled. I suggest upgrading to Windows 10 upon receipt.
