Question 2

Can two monitors each with a DVI port be used simultaneously for dual monitor usage with this motherboard using the DVI and HDMI ports? (with the HDMI port through a DVI converter?)

Unfortunately the motherboard only supports a single display. Even if you connected two monitors to both ports, only one would work. I suggest buying a GPU that supports two or more monitors and just use that instead.

Question 3

Can the on-board graphics processor handle more than 3 monitors simultaeously for gaming?

Accepted Answer

Nope. The integrated graphics is designed for one monitor even though it has several ports. You will need a graphics card that supports more monitors to do so. I am using a GTX 750 ti (a good intermediate budget GPU) with this mother board and I can run two monitors on it and play most games at 60 fps. If you want to run 3 or more monitors I would suggest a beefier motherboard with support for several GPUs (connected together with SLI or CrossFire) such as the Crossblade Ranger. The A88XM-A motherboard is good for casual gamers and budget builds.

will a a6400k Eyefinitycpu work in this ? will it over clock?

I have built 5 computers with the A10 Kavari AMD cpu (Godavari core).  Three with the motherboard you are asking about. (ASUS)  The one I like best has the Wrath cooler.  Useing solid state Hard Drives they all work great.  Looking at the bios it looks like they  are all able to be overclocked.  I saw no need to overclock and the one I like best may not have too much headroom for any significent overclock.  I cannot answer for the cpu you are asking about.

will this one run the 7890k apu?

Stephen,  my guess is that this would be ok...my 7860K works great.  This 7890K APU isn't listed on the ASUS website as compatible, but neither is the 7860K.  FWIW, they haven't released any new BIOS versions wince 4/1/2016, which indicates to me that they haven't had to address any problems.

You would definitely need 2133 or 2400 memory for the 7890K.  I underclocked mine with 1800 since I already had the memory and my main application was engineering drawing software.

I can't say... I ordered a Samsung Evo 850 240 GB SSD assuming it will work, but I have yet to put it together!

will this work with a KVM switch ( old style VGA plug " blue in color " ) ?

Yea it supports the old fashion analog connections, but I would suggest using the HDMI if at all possible as it has significantly faster transfer rates etc. Anyways, most monitors these days come with at least a DVI connection or appropriate converter.
