First went bad and second one DOA 7/1/2017 12:26:42 PM

Pros: I havent had one that worked 100% yet

Cons: No testing before shipping No Quality assurance

Overall Review: This is my second A8N deluxe. The first one would always hang up on windows boot up and sometimes wouldn't recognize it had a harddrive at all. I thought the new computer was running pretty good until it crashed when i went back to my old one i noticed it ran so much better and it's going on 3 years old. Second one didn't post i swapped the parts back out to the old motherboard (too old to get RMA'd) and it got past the post, but of course still locked up on the windows boot up....i'm trying again.

Its gonna hit 10 years for me 3/26/2013 9:24:36 PM

Pros: Amazing build quality, and features. it has been a rock.

I have never seen an ASUS motherboard die, or not work. even the one I pulled out of a computer renissance dumpster in 1995 worked (486). they are rare in salvage but of the dozen or so over 4 years, all of the ones tested have worked (2003-2007)

the X2 and FX chips are finnaly starting to come down in price. and its 4 gigs of ram max is still a nice amount for most things, even if kinda slow

Cons: it has absolutely zero cons.

It is older, but the fact that its still ticking is a virtue. it was an amazing PC from 2005-2009, a good PC from 2009-2012, and is still a very stable, and capable platform. It is what it is though

Overall Review: I paid $240 for this board in early 2005. it was a $1200 build. athlon64 3000 ($160), corsair XMS PC3200 512x4. Two Rosewill 6600gt's ($180 each). Two 36g Raptors.

No parts have ever been removed for failure other than the Chipset HS/F. I bolted a giant thermaltake something huge to it, fanless, came with a fan, but it don't need its 40mm fan, and the fan on the stock CPU cooler died 3 years ago, i just unplugged it so it would shut up.

The CPU was replaced in 2005 with a 2.4/4000, and ran Stock with fan for 6 years at roughly 28-29, when the fan died the temps went up to 31-32, and ive had it Auto overclocked by the max of 10% for the past 6 monthes. the fanless stock cooler keeps it at about 33. it stays cool to the touch.

The 6600Gts were never overclocked and ran stock flawlessly till 2007, they got 2 thermaltake schooner fanless HS's, got overclocked so i could play Supreme comander 1, no numbers available, i just bumped stuff up. 6 weeks ago i retired one of them (till im done with the board) Got a sweet deal on an AMD 7850, handles minecraft much better, and no hassle of SLI

never had a problem with my raptors, stripped of course. still had my three 120g IDE's, till 2008ish when I took them to the rifle range cause i got 4 WD black 1.5's. OS is still on the raptors. The 2x4 SATA on the board is very nice, specially for its age, was a main reasons I saw no real need to upgrade. I use all 8

i got four 140's, and three 120's, plus PSU fan. in a fractal designs mid tower,

Received DOA- but didn't find out soon enough 12/22/2012 2:34:23 PM

Pros: I had waited for 8 months or more to afford this board... perfect set-up for the New SLI VGA's, even if they ran at x8 each. The board came with everything you would ever need, and then some.

Cons: Well, I had bought this one and a G-Byte 939 SLI (Dual Bios) within weeks of each other, had the Dual Core 3800 CPU, but couldn't afford the VGA's yet... so I kept building/selling the other systems I already had in order to buy cards for these two boards. By the time I could afford Dual VGA's- I had already used the CPU I had bought 2.5 yrs. earlier- so I had to save for 2 more Nice 939 CPU's. Got them just after the "Warranties" ran out on Both boards- BRAND NEW- and when I bench tested them both, they were DOA. This is the only time I have received 2 "Top Name Brand" motherboards that would not POST, let alone give any Beep-codes as to what might be wrong. G-Byte said the same thing as ASUS- "send the board and $120 for repair, but we cannot promise anything. Even if we cannot fix, you will be out the $120." I haven't even opened ONE accessory in the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe box, just the board- and it arrived without the sticker over the Memory DIMM's.

Overall Review: Now, I test all New boards as soon as I receive them. The M4N82 Deluxe works excellent, the G-Byte 990FX4 UD3 is extremely NICE! Even all 4 ASUS VGA's (2 9500 GT 1GB & 2 9600 GT 1GB meant for the A8N-SLI Deluxe and an A8N-32SLI Deluxe I bought and sold) work(ed) Perfectly. I paid $199.00 for the A8N-SLI Deluxe and was about 3 or 4 months past the warranty when I finally started the build on this ASUS- then when I first called about the Boot issue, and that gal on the phone was so Cold and Short! I called again about 4 weeks ago and talked to a Tech. to see if there might be something I missed, but he said the PCB is most likely the issue and the $120 would be a waste. NICE!!!!

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear that this motherboard does not POST. The Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 3800+ (rev. E4 and E6) requires BIOS version 1013 or higher to support it. We suspect that this may be the reason why it did not POST. Can you also check if the standby LED is on after plugging the 24-pin power connector? Does the fan spin aft power on? If no in both cases, please try another PSU. Please also check that the 4-pin power connectors are plugged in, and CLEAR_CMOS jumper is in position 1 and 2.

Unfortunately, to have the motherboard service when it's out of warranty is at cost to the customer. Our motherboards typically carry a 3 year warranty, Sabertooth models 5 year. Warranty is based on the serial number (manufacture date) not purchase date. For more information, please visit http://service.asus.com

Regards,
Benson

Pros: Worked well for several years

Cons: Due to a manufacturing defect the northbridge fan has stopped spinning causing numerous issues. It isn't possible to easily replace this heatsink and fan as they are non standard ASUS parts.

Gonna miss this rig 7/25/2012 4:22:45 PM

Pros: This board made me an ASUS fan. It has run fine since 2005.

Cons: On board sound died around 2006 or so. System cost me some big bucks back then, especially 4 gigs of OCZ Platinum for around $300. Wish I could find a use for this system. Seems a waste...

Overall Review: This board was so good, I built an AM3 system on an ASUS board 2 years ago for my GF. It died after a year and ASUS tried to say it was because I used ram that was not on their pathetically short list....
Guess who never bought another ASUS product.....

Reliable 7/12/2012 4:40:28 PM

Pros: I've owned this board for 7 years now, its seen heavy gaming use, and home media server use. I had the chipset fan stop working about a year ago, replaced it for about $16 with a heatsink/fan for sale right here on newegg.

Cons: Chipset fan did fail after 6 years, but was easily replaced and works perfectly now, not even worth an egg off.

Overall Review: Perfect board to have if you're looking for a system that can mix new and old tech, and can last quite long. Totally recommend if you can find one.

Elmo 9/6/2007 7:12:28 PM

Pros: It is a big leap from computer bords pre 2004.
The memory and Front Side Bus. fsb, are far faster than say, "PC100". This is 400.

Cons: "Not really a con",... Upgrade to FX 72,+, board now. This technology change(s)(d) so fast
that this is, after two years, "old hat"!

Overall Review: Okay. "Chipset Fan Fail" is what a tiny computer animated voice says on the Tech. information screen at start. How much do people trust the foolproof advice of professionals!,?,!
NO, the chipset fail did not actualy fail. It is only a sensitive glitch in the onboard system, the fan works just fine after the "westworld" like voice tells you otherwise. I know, I have heard the little voice tell me it too, and yes, the fan was performing very well! It may have someting to do with "Saint Elmo's Fire",or as they say in *Taiwan where this was made,"Glow In The Dark BooDuh". Get it?.!.
*Inventors of "fogging aliasing" in computer graphics.
Yes. :)
