Better I/O and features than my new Prime X470 Pro 5/3/2018 3:12:59 PM

Pros: Bios is easy to us but not 'dumbed down' like in newer ROG boards
Lasted 6 years with no issues.
Held it's resale value well

Cons: Not the best audio chipset for driving higher end headphones
Personally I don't like the aesthetics

Overall Review: If you're looking to get older parts for a build to save some money, would definitely recommend this board.

Can't Go Wrong with ROG Hardware 11/18/2016 1:31:27 PM

Pros: First of all, having buttons instead of a jumper for the CMOS is a huge plus. Much handier even if you don't do a lot of overclocking. The UEFI BIOS is easy to navigate and everything's easy to understand. If you want to overclock your CPU, RAM, GPU, etc. you can tweak just about everything. With the 990FX chipset being Bulldozer-ready this board should get you by for quite awhile. No shortage of rear I/O ports, and no shortage of accessories that come with the motherboard, which has become an ASUS hallmark.

Cons: Not so much a con as it is a minor annoyance, but if you water cool, the board likes to remind you now and then that it doesn't detect a CPU fan, even if you tell the BIOS to ignore monitoring on the CPU fan port. Sometimes you can reset the CMOS and it will remember that setting, other times just changing something in the BIOS and rebooting will turn CPU fan monitoring back on and will bring the warning back. No native Firewire support, which I don't consider necessary, but some people might want Firewire. Neither of these are a deal breaker to me, so no need to remove an egg for either of them.

Overall Review: If you plan to run an FX-series chip, make sure before you install it that you have the latest BIOS revision. You will need it, and not every board will come out of the box with the latest BIOS.

When you get a good one its Fantastic!!!! 10/1/2016 12:15:32 PM

Pros: First off I am a gamer. Other than its pretty colors, this is a pretty typical MoBo with really nice features like USB3.0, Intel NIC, OB audio, and even HDMI. But it really shines when you OC this bad girl. I call it a girl cause, even though she can get you to the OC level you want with out her stressing to get you there, you still have to use some finess on the freq and voltage to get her there. Memory is also adjustable too with voltage variables to push the DIMMs to match performance to 8 Core CPU. I over clock it with an AMD 8120 with an Antec H2O Kuhler 620. I've pushed it pretty hard on the bench line and runs without a hickup with a consistent temp of 42-45c deg. I'm almost positive I can push a bit more but no sense in risking a brand new PC setup. I give this server a thumbs up on performance. A gamers dream. Lets just say when everyone else is lagging, your usually not. Enough said.

Ok Gamers, I've had this MoBo for about 4 years. This Mobo is a BEAST!!!!! I've played Eve Online during a full scale battle involving over 80 other players in this space MMO, and I have to tell you. My team says they're lagging, over teamspeak, but my system seems fine, and I'm racking up kills with little or no resistance. It does help that I have dual MSI Twin FrozrIII cards and 32gb RAM, but I had to overclock well..., EVERYTHING!!! and this MoBo allowed me to do that. Granted i had to drop in a new Kraken liquid CPU cooler, and a dual liquid radiator to cool the Memory. I had to config it to extreme level and she was soo cool , she purred like a kitten. So hats off to the ASUS crew. My PC is 4 years old but still outperforms most standard PC's . Too bad they don't have any more of these MoBo's in stock.

Cons: I bought the Open Box first thinking it was cheaper and it was a volume order on NewEgg's inventory, and they were boxed by NewEgg. Not True... Open Box for this MoBo means this Mobo was returned for some reason. I for one see no reason to return this top-o-the line Mobo for any reason other than if there is something wrong with it. First one I got was DOA would not post. Got and RMA for that. Got another one NIB. NIC not working. Tried updating bios, chipset, NIC driver, and everything. Nothing worked. Finally ordered third one. Third time’s the charm. After a month of setup, finally got it.

Overall Review: As I read the reviews there is a 50% chance you will get a bad MoBo. NewEgg, however makes it easy for an RMA so thats a plus, but just the sheer let down of 2 bad Mobo's is daunting.
So... when you get a good one, it works great. Just keep the faith.

ASUS is one company that does it 110% 12/29/2015 12:38:27 PM

Pros: Ive had this mobo for almost four years and its still standing strong. no issues with booting, Bios is strongly structured and of course the mobo art is nice to look at !

Cons: i do wish the mobo was a tad bigger so i could succesfuly crossfire an R9 390X. I have the Asus extreme wireless card and a samsung SSD plugged in to the mobo, so space is really really reeeeeally tight.

Overall Review: I am waiting for Asus to push out a mobo with a PCI-E 3.0. otherwise this is the best out there in my opinion

Failed Tech Support/Crosshair V 10/1/2015 1:37:55 PM

Pros: Before the obnoxious, forced upgrade to Win 8.1, it ran great....well, as great as you can get on Win 8.1. I'd prefer Win 7 at this writing.

Cons: Ran great until the MB wouldn't boot and would hang on the BIOS. I followed the tech instructions and removed all the HD's and would finally boot into BIOS where I reset it to the DEFAULT settings as per tech request. Rebooted a number of times and could never get past BIOS. If you attached ANY HD's to it, it would completely HAND on the BIOS. Told tech and he said he would send RMA# and that this was a known problem. He wanted to all but there is no signal out here so he said RMA would come via e-mail.
Gave the MB to my son after buying ASUS laptop from NewEgg ($1,000+) and he never got the RMA via e-mail as I was told would happen.
I just recently found this out and can't seem to get ASUS to send an RMA on this.
*Every part of this computer was bought from NewEgg at the same time and was under warranty when the problem was reported. I have a lot of time and money invested in this gift to my son and am really dissatisfied with ASUS after the ASUS laptop I bought from NewEgg kept wanting to upgrade from Win 8 to 8.1. The 'upgrade' wiped the HD and I lost a LOT of DATA. I called ASUS and they want the whole laptop sent to them with a 'receipt' that is NOT from NewEgg. How do you do that? Besides, I need my laptop and can't afford to be w/out one. They won't send me a copy of the OS so I've been forced to use Ubuntu...and I lose about HALF of my capabilities because the only software that will run the features (multiple video cards, utils and tweaking capabilities...lots of things.

Overall Review: NewEgg used to be easier to deal with and ASUS used to be a rock-solid computer with great tech support. It never fails....when a company gets bigger, tech support and quality suffer.

ASUS Crosshair V Formula 3/11/2015 10:56:45 AM

Pros: Very nice looking board, easy to install and setup. Always had a great experience with ASUS products. Love the Overclocking setup on this, though I haven't needed it with what I use this computer for.

Cons: After about 3 years with this MB, it has developed a issue loosing its BIOS settings, always needing to be reset. Most people would say you got 3 years out of it, but my older ASUS computer that is over 7 years old is still working like the day I built it. We will see what ASUS Tech Support says, since this is just 2 months out of warranty.

Overall Review: I've built over 25 computers over the last 15 years, and was always using MSI components till I had a 6 month old MB have a Southbridge fan fail. I tried ASUS and haven't looked back. Love the looks, love how easy they are to setup, and for the most part, always reliable.

I Love This Board 3/7/2015 8:50:45 AM

Pros: I bought this board for my first big custom gaming rig back in April 2012, and it has preformed absolutely perfectly for these 3 years. It has never caused an issue even considering the computer runs almost 24/7.

It has enough room to easily accommodates both the Coolermaster V8 CPU cooler, and the rather large heat-sinks on the Corsair Vengeance memory.

The board is absolutely beautiful to look at.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: This will be mounted on a plaque as a piece of art when the time comes that i need an upgrade (way in the future)

I buy ASUS whenever possible, I swear by them as a company and I've never had a part I was unhappy with.
