Does this support subtitle files? e.g. srt/ass files?

It does support subtitle in SRT format with the same name as video file. I use Plex media server to stream all my movies from my pc and that supports all subtitle formats.

Can I use this device in lieu of a cable, in a conference room type of setting that will allow me to project my presentations to a flat screen TV from a laptop (or even a desktop). If this product won't do that, is there a product on the market that allows for this type of wireless interface between a PC and flat screen?

I don't believe it's designed for that. There are definitely devices that can do powerpoint or any presentation seemlessly to a tv, but this is more of an entertainment center. It can do two things really well. Play video content online (except for Hulu for some reason), and can link to video files on your computer. As long as the wifi is strong, there shouldn't be a problem and Plex I found worked best

Can you install xbmc?

I believe there is an altered version that can run however, you must not update the firmware and you must also root the Cube. Some units I have heard are shipping with the newer firmware. When and if Asus given us the JB update it will be better equipped for xmbc, imo.

Can it be upgradable to latest Andriod OS from Asus?

No. It seems Asus has pretty much given up on the cube. All questions about updates are replied to with no future plans.

I bought an ASUS O!Play Live last year, and almost exactly one month out of warranty it started locking up when going into Pandora. I contacted tech support since I couldn't get the firmware update to work from the device (Although it is connected to the internet). They told me that the firmware was only available through the online update and not as a downloadable pack and essentially there was nothing they could do for me other than trying to reset the device which didn't seem to help anyway. So, is this device going to be supported in the future, or can I expect that it's going to stop working 13 months after I purchase it?
