can this be a main desktop gpu card it says type C so im confused? This is my first time building a pc.

Absolutely, that's what I use it for. USB Type-C is simply a type of port/connection it has at the back of it, just like it has HDMI and DisplayPort connections to hook up to your monitor. Except, unlike HDMI or displayport, USB-Type C is a new feature across the latest generation of GPUs so they can provide easier and more direct access to VR functions like the HTC-Vive (which use Usb-Type C connections)

I own an ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080Ti OC Edition already. Will I get any advantages over GTX 1080Ti if I am buying this one ?

The two cards perform very similarly in terms of clock speed and overclocking potential. The only real benefit you are getting over the 1080ti is the ray tracing and DLSS support. If you can live without those, then I would just stick to the 1080ti for now until ray tracing is more optimized. For example, BF5 takes about a 45% frame drop in my testing with ray tracing enabled. Right now the ray tracing performance isn’t really there, but hopefully will be in the near future. It is a new technology after all!

Since the top of the card isn't shown does this have a NVlink connector on top so that you can do more than one of this graphics card in a build?

Is the (ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Overclocked) better than the (ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Advanced Overclocked) in terms of performance? Would really appreciate an answer.

No, the super version is better by a little. I would go with the non super and save some money. Not that big of a leap in performance.

Can I have Five monitors connected at once?

You can connect 2 hdmi monitors. 
 
You can connect 2 display port monitors.
 
The other small type c usb 3 is really just for virtual headsets to make less 
mess with extra cables. 
 
Some times a monitor will cost more with a display port on it.  It is the way to go as you can get adapters to make an hdmi go to a diplay port.  You will not get as fast HZ refresh rate so it will downgrade you.  It will be capped at 60fps in 4k as the hdmi will maxout.
 
So a simple recap, you can connect 2 hdmi monitors. 
 
2 display port monitors just use the other for a virtual headset if you're into 
that. You can get adapters for just about anything for a few dollars, but keep it simple, don't force it.  Trust me it's not worth all the messing around.  I hope this helps.

Does the GTX 1080ti beat this card?

No in most games the 2080 will out perform the 1080 ti but a few older games the 1080 ti outperforms it. Going forward I wouldn't expect the 1080 ti to outperform the 2080 unless a good is poorly optimized. DLSS games should add a nice boost besides the really nice OC of these new cards.

Is this card factory overclocked? I have no OC software installed and my monitoring says I'm getting 1980mhz.

Your best option is to sign up for the Newegg auto notify and make sure your push notifications are on the fastest setting. That is what I did and got lucky. They sold out within 10-20 minutes of notifications going out. Have your payment method and shipping address preloded to simplify your check out. I would expect an instock notification sometime this week or next ( but that is just speculation)

I was lucky enough to get my hands on this card but when I go back to search for it I see that it's not even being displayed from the search? Is Asus having a shortage of RTX GPUs?

Yes, it seems Asus is binning for high-speed core clocks for the OC version of the strix 2080. So yes you can say it's due to a shortage of of the TU104-400A-A1 gpu.
