The M5A99X EVO is equipped with DIGI+ VRM technology in addition to the TPU and EPU processors that offer enhanced performance and power management. DIGI+ VRM power delivery allows a user to precisely adjust and control power settings digitally for precise power control and flexible tuning of their system. Also included is the intuitive and feature laden ASUS UEFI BIOS menu interface allowing users to control and adjust their motherboard settings through the use of a mouse-enabled interface for a superior user-friendly experience that BIOS does not offer.

  • newegg AMD FX /Phenom II /Athlon II /Sempron 100 Series Processors Support This motherboard supports AMD AM3+ multi-core processors with unique L3 cache and current AMD Phenom II /Athlon II /Sempron 100 Series processors. The AMD 990X Chipset is designed to support up to 5200MT/s HyperTransport 3.0 (HT 3.0) interface speed and dual PCI Express 2.0 x16 graphics (1x16 or 2x8).
  • newegg DIGI+ VRM ASUS DIGI+ VRM is an innovative, industry-leading technology that fully integrates Intel VRD12 specifications on a native level, greatly enhancing power to go far beyond the limits of analog designs. ASUS DIGI+ VRM acts as a digital controller to perfectly match digital power signal (SVID) requests from the CPU, eliminating digital-to-analog conversion lag. The exclusive dual driver and MOS design doubles the heat dissipation area with expanded cooling surfaces for improved thermal performance. Spacing components out over a wider area speeds up cooling to enhance reliability and stability. The same exclusive dual driver and MOS design also provides twice the CPU power supply with two complete power stages. This results in far greater phase load tolerances, so the CPU never has to wait for power to arrive, increasing performance and overclocking potential.
  • newegg TPU & EPU The TPU chip offers precise voltage control and advanced monitoring through Auto Tuning and TurboV functions. Auto Tuning offers a user friendly way to automatically optimize the system for fast, yet stable clock speeds, while TurboV enables unlimited freedom to adjust CPU frequencies and ratios for optimized performance in diverse situations. The EPU chip provides a real-time, dynamic power saving by automatically detecting current PC loadings and intelligently moderating power consumption. This also reduces fan noise and extends component longevity!
  • newegg UEFI BIOS The new ASUS UEFI BIOS is an Extensible Firmware Interface that complies with UEFI architecture, offering a user-friendly interface that goes beyond traditional keyboard-only BIOS controls to enable more flexible and convenient mouse input. Users can easily navigate the new UEFI BIOS with the same smoothness as their operating system. The exclusive EZ Mode displays frequently-accessed setup info, while the Advanced Mode is for experienced performance enthusiasts that demand far more intricate system settings. The UEFI BIOS also natively supports hard drives larger than 2.2TB in 64-bit, with full storage space utilization, helping deliver far more exciting computing than traditional BIOS versions!
  • newegg Quad USB 3.0 & 6 x SATA III AMD SB950 Southbridge natively supports next-generation Serial ATA (SATA) storage interface, which delivers up to 6.0 Gb/s data transfer rates. ASUS facilitates strategic USB 3.0 accessibility for both the front and rear panel - 4 USB 3.0 ports in total. Experience the latest plug & play connectivity at speeds up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0.
  • newegg Quad-GPU SLI and Quad-GPU CrossFireX Support The ASUS M5A99X EVO features two PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots (x16 or dual x8) that support Quad-GPU SLI and Quad-GPU CrossFireX, delivering a brand-new gaming style you’ve never experienced before!

7th Year and Still Kicking! Great For Mid Range PC's Nowadays 1/2/2018 6:59:30 PM

Pros: -Over-clocking Ability
-Good Bios
-Time Tested for 7 years

Cons: -Only Supports Older CPU's No Ryzen Support
-DDR3 when now we have DDR4
-PCI-16 X 2.0 instead of 3.0

Overall Review: I highly recommend this Motherboard if you are looking to build a mid Range Gaming PC. I have an fx-8350 CPU, 16 GB HyperX DDR3 Memory, 750 Watt Power Supply, two AMD RX-580's hooked up through crossfire, 1 TB Samsung SSD, 3 TB Seagate Barracuda SSHD, and a 2 TB 7200 RPM HD.

This PC Still Keeps up with today's games and it is all Held together by this board. It has gotten me through these years upgrade after upgrade. as of Jan 2018 my PC is still upper tier gaming rig. I have not felt the need to upgrade to Ryzen or DDR4 just yet. I figure it will take time to make me jump.

In the Meantime i use this PC daily. Its quick with Snappy Response, Great MultiTasking and a Great Gaming Rig. ASUS is Top Notch in my books and i will only be using their Motherboards in the Future.

Not that you are buying this in 2017 but amazing Mobo 7/27/2017 10:39:44 PM

Pros: Bought this mobo in 2012. It has been running nearly 24/7 since then and not a single issue. Just recently upgraded to an FX-8350 after 5 years of use and not one hiccup. UEFI bios is a breeze.

Cons: Unfortunately noone is buying this in 2017 (not really a con)

Overall Review: If there is one piece of hardware ASUS makes well, its motherboards.

Great motherboard for overclocking 8/20/2016 7:21:44 AM

Pros: 990FX With great voltage control, and tons of overclocking features that you just don't get with 970 motherboards. Temps are great, a whopping 20c cooler then when i used the same cpu/cpu cooler on a 970 board.

Cons: Picky ram, when i use my Patriot Viper Extreme (just a tad better timings then my evga superclocked ddr3) it boots to windows and everything works fine, but it hangs when trying to go into the bios, and it will not let me into the bios. When i put in my other ram, which is also pc3 12800 it works fine, i thought something was wrong, and i was going to try updating the bios, but i could not get into the bios, big headache, thought i had a defective motherboard, but turns out it was just the ram, i put some different ram in it, and it works perfect.

Overall Review: I bought this motherboard paired with an older cpu (Phenom II x4 965 3.4ghz) Used on the bay for 60$ including shipping, which i thought was an awesome deal! The only thing is that it didn't come with a backplate but oh well, might order a backplate from

Died after 3 years 3/18/2016 5:51:35 AM

Pros: Ran great while it lasted. Had a FX8120 in it. Both items purchased at the same time.

Cons: Had a couple blue screens once in a while but always came back. Now it seems just after the 3 year mark (warranty) the board will not post. The CPU LED stays lit.
AMD was very helpful in trying to find the problem, they first thought is was their processor and AMD was very good to do a quick cross-ship RMA and even gave me an upgrade from FX8120 (3.1) to a FX8350 (4.0) !
After install of new processor still the same thing , a stuck CPU LED on.
It's shame that ASUS will not stand behind it's product when AMD has clearly has beyond expectations.

Overall Review: Having read another review here that sending in the board is probably a waste of time if they will do a 'repair' or just return the board UN-fixed after waiting a long time and doing multiple returns.
Very disappointed and will probably not purchase another ASUS product.

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for providing us with with your ASUS M5A99X EVO motherboard. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this process has caused. Which UEFI version are you using? And also which CPU cooler? Clear CMOS and see if the board will POST. If it will not, pull one memory module and place the other stick in the slot furthest from the CPU and see if that helps. I would recommend flashing to the latest UEFI if you can get the board to POST. If you cannot, check the memory and GPU are working fine still (in another system if possible) and if need be RMA the motherboard. If you have any further questions you can contact me directly at using N160369377 as reference to this case.

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Pros: Bought it in 2012 for a cheap build. Never had a single problem out of it. Using a phenom 965BE, and a 2gb 750ti, with only 4gbs ram and can still run dragonage inquisition on high settings.

Cons: none
