Does this come with bios already updated?

Bios will be updated to the date of manufacture, but you won't know that date when you buy the board. My board did not come with the latest bios, but it's easy to upgrade by downloading the latest firmware in the bios settings. Be aware that 3000 series Ryzen cpu's need at least version 1201 to work on this board. Ryzen 5 2400G will work out of the box and be magnitudes faster than say a PhenomII from ten years ago. You just won't know out of the box which bios version you have 'till you get the board.

So this is the motherboard my wife got as a default with her cyberpower rig she bought. I am regrettably unfamiliar with Micro ATX boards. She wants to upgrade to a ryzen 7 cpu and a higher gpu(I believe the 5800 is what she told me for the amd radeon series) as well as getting an additional SSD for gaming. What do I need to know as far as that all goes?

All of the Ryzen 7 cpu's use the AM4 socket so there isnt an issue there. As long as there is not an issue with clearance or a PSU that isnt powerful enough to run the GPU then that also shouldnt be a problem. For an additional SSD, I would recommend a Sabrent Rocket M.2 nvme ssd, or any M.2 nvme ssd and make it your boot drive. With that you will notice a remarkable change in boot times as well as read and write speeds. like 10x faster than a normal ssd.
