Please  Tell  me about the black armor, that is plastic or metal?

Thick, quality powder coated, metal w/ design stamped into it. Installing the board into my NZXT H440 case from newegg was a little tight, however the sheer industrial design of the amour made it very reassuring.

Question 2

Is there any motherboards out there that are better than this?  I am using 3 gtx 980s and my processor is (i7-4770k 3.50GHZ).

Regardless of the motherboard, Your 4770k is going to be a massive bottleneck.  if i where you, i would go for an x99Cipset / Motherboard, like the ASUS X99 Deluxe, and a Hexa-core or Octa-core processor. or else, the 3 980s wont be able to live up to their full potential, and it would honestly be a waste of money. Just my advice, and honestly, this is an awesome motherboard.

Question 3

I noticed while looking at the board that it has an 8 pin power connector, yet it also has a 4 pin connector right next to it.  Do both of these need to be plugged in or is one a primary and the other a secondary?

There's some ambiguity to be found in the official documentation.  The manual refers to them as EATX12V_1 (8pin) and EATX12V_2 (4pin).  Lower on the page, it says "... do not forget to connect the 4-pin/8-pin EATX12 V power plug".  My take on it is that you can use one or the other.  I have both connected.  I don't recall why I did that, but I haven't experienced a single issue in the six months since my system was built.

does this motherboard support 8-core processors?

Question 5

Can you run 3 980ti's on this board with a i7 4790k? I dont understand the whole 16x8x8 or 16x8x4 pcie number. Im so confused. I just got this board and am totally bummed right now.

yes you can run 3 980's, the 16x8x8 means in those three pcie slots they will use 16 lanes in the first 8 in the second and 8 in the third if they are all in use at the same time. this is why sli and crossfire do not give you a full 100% increase in power and instead give 50% or less for 2 cards (usually 8x8)
