Yes, motherboard is equipped with bluetooth. I used it for my last build with a 8700k. So far it has performed stellar!!! Kudos to ASUS for a solid board.

Does the backplate add additional height to the mobo from the case mount? or does it just occupy the space between the standoffs?

No doesn't really seem to add much height at all if any. It's pretty seamlessly attached.

Is this compatible with intel optane as well as 7th gen CPU's?

The board IS fully compatible with Optane but is NOT compatible with 7th gen CPUs. You will need an 8th gen (coffee lake) to work with the new z370 chipset.

why is new egg recommending 1151 processor for a 1151 (300) series motherboard its a 8th jen board the kaby lake is a 200 series processor. why am I over looking over something?

Supposedly with the new bios update the 9 series will fit the 300 series socket and work fine so if you are looking to buy might want to wait on the new refresh of processors to come out or even the new boards as well to go with them unless you already have a 300 series board which will also work.

What metal is the VRM water block made of?

So from what I could see while building my system, its a copper water block with plastic for the endtanks/fittings interface. The part where the fittings screw in seemed surprisingly sturdy as long as you don't put a metric ton of torque on it.
