i have a Intel core i7 930 Bloomfield socket 1366 LGA,  will this CPU work in the new rampage extreme board , i currently have rampage 3 extreme?

No. Your Intel processor is based on Intel's Socket 1366 LGA technology where the Intel processor has 1,366 pads providing 1,366 points of contact which interface with the appropriate connector on the motherboard which has 1,366 contact point pins which mate with the pads on the Intel processor. The ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme motherboard is based on Intel's Socket 2066 technology which has 700 more points of contact. If you purchase this motherboard then you're to have to purchase a compatible processor, too.

Does the panels light up like in the pictures?

Not only does it light up like the pictures, there's a little OLED display on the left if you look closely. You can set it to show current CPU speed, CPU temperature... or apparently whatever you want. Including setting your own text or a graphical logo.

I have the board, but I haven't tried playing with that little display yet...

Question 3

Will this board support the 7 new Skylake-X Refresh CPUs that Intel announced yesterday?  I chatted with ASUS support yesterday and they were not helpful.

" yes" that being said! What I've read so far is they support the 2066 socket, and the X299 chipset. Now does that mean a drop in well time will tell!! There was a leak about new MB with chipsets Z399 that might come along with this new generation. this is the bulk of what I can find out about your question! I hope it helps!

Well, not sure what upgrade your referring too! All the abilities are well documented! As for cooling there's EKWB, they make specialized components for this board! So to answer your question which ever high end components you use will be the upgrades! Just check the venders list to be sure your getting the components that will work with this board!! Vroc issues are well documented in forums for this board. Just choose wisely! You won't go wrong!! It's a amazing motherboard!

Does it have space for a EVGA 1080 ti FTW3 graphic card in the last socket?

USE EITHER THE TOP SLOT OR THE 4TH SLOT BOTH HAVE PCI-E 16X8 SPEED - THE BOTTOM SLOT IS AN 8X4 PCI-E. REMEMBER THAT PCI-E LANE SHARING IS ASSIGNED TO DIFFERENT SLOTS DEPENDING WHAT FEATURES YOU USE. I WOULD RECOMMEND DOWNLOADING THE USER MANUAL AND MAKE SURE IT PROVIDE WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE YOUR PURCHASE

So what all will i miss out on if I just get a 28 lane CPU?  I hear some of the M.2 slots turn off (which doesnt' sound right, 16x GPU, and the other 12 free lanes should go to the M.2 Slots.  2 M.2's only need 4 lanes each, total 8 lanes. so what all do i miss?

the Ultra.DIMM slot is right beside the CPU.  i have a hard time believing it's routed down to the chipset, then back up to the CPU.   There are 3 M.2 slots on this board.  1x by the chipset, 2x by the cpu.

now Asus Dramm list shows two listings. G-skil, and Corsair both have a offering for 4200mhz  Ram. So to answer your question. Im not sure! Im useing 3600mhz ram from

Be aware that current NVIDIA Pascal architecture only officially supports 2-way SLI.

3 and 4-way SLI will only function in selected applications with minimal to no game support!

With the DIMM.2 module board having two M.2 slots and the motherboard having one, would this motherboard support three M.2 ssd's with the right CPU and hardware?

Accepted Answer

Yes. However, the maximum m.2 card length for the DIMM.2 module is 100mm. You could also purchase the ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 Card which supports four m.2 cards by itself. If you had four Intel (compatible) M.2 cards you could also use it in conjunction with VROC. The benefit seems to be the Hyper M.2 card can support transfer speeds of 128Gbps (PCIe x 16) vs the on the motherboard with 32Gbps (PCIe x 4 - DMI Limit). Also, the Hyper M.2 card says it was designed "specifically for VROC", so I'm not sure if that implies a limitation with compatibility of anything or if you "have" to use VROC if using the card...

Your have to react when you receive a notification email.  I received email notification 9/26 and got mobo 9/29. Newegg policy has always been first come until product is gone. It sold out in 10 minutes on 9/26.
