ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega

ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega

Intel X299 EATX Gaming Motherboard

The ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega is meticulously designed and crafted for building an ultimate Intel X299 high end desktop (HEDT) platform. By using only top-quality components and adopting comprehensive cooling solution, it makes all components—such as Intel high core count (HCC) Core X-Series processor, 4266MHz+ DDR4 memory and M.2 SSDs—perform at peak performance consistently. Communication between all components and even with peripherals and the network will be always carried out flat out to make your system a true juggernaut. And with a plethora of intuitive utilities, you can easily fine-tune your system and customize RGB lighting for optimal computing experience.

Power Design That Bucks Trends

The monstrous compute power of high core count (HCC) processors necessitates a power circuit that rapidly responds to massive current swings. And those demands increase exponentially when the CPU is overclocked. Featuring an array of 16 strategically paired power stages, the Omega's VRM is geared for any workload and all operating conditions.

DDR4 4266MHz+

HCC processors crunching multi-threaded compute workloads can demand colossal memory space and bandwidth. The Omega features choice Optimem II enhancements to maximize signal integrity and drive high-density memory configurations to speeds previously reserved for low-capacity setups.

Multiple temperature sources

Each header can be set to monitor and react to three user-configurable thermal sensors for workload-based cooling. And all settings can be easily managed by Fan Xpert 4 or UEFI.

4-pin PWM/DC fan

Every onboard header supports auto-detection of PWM or DC fans.

Heatsink fan

A dedicated header for onboard heatsink fan.

Bundled Fan Extension Card II

Includes six additional DC or PWM fan headers, plus three thermal-probe headers.

Water pump+

A dedicated header that can supply over 3A to high-performance PWM or DC water pumps.

Water in/out

Enables monitoring of temperatures at the input/output of any component.

Water flow

Enables constant monitoring of flow rate of the entire loop.

Water-block header

A special connector that lets water blocks designed for the ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega provide flow, temperature and leakage data.

Water-cooling Zone

Rog Water-cooling Zone

ROG Water-Cooling Zone's dual water-temperature headers and flow-rate header feed information straight into the AI Suite utility, so you can keep track of coolant temperatures, and the flow rate of the entire loop.

Fan Extension Card

Fan Extension Card II

ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega includes our new Fan Extension Card II, which adds six headers that are controllable via FanXpert 4. The card has three temperature-sensor headers to complement the one available onboard and, more importantly, it comes with three thermistors that you can affix to different components. In addition to supplying extra headers for cooling, it has three primed for RGB LED strips.

AI Suite 3

Performance Level up

AI Suite 3's dashboard-style control panel lets you fine-tune almost every aspect of your Rampage VI Extreme Omega system. Get the best balance between performance, cooling, stability, and efficiency via one simple and intuitive interface.

Easy-to-use UEFI BIOS

The UEFI BIOS is an early waypoint on any PC-building journey, and Rampage VI Extreme Omega offers one of the best in the business.

Intel Integrated Ultra Wi-Fi Support

ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega features Intel Wireless-AC 9260 Wi-Fi (802.11ac) with 2x2 MU-MIMO and HT160 support for wireless speeds of up to 1.73Gbps.* In fact, the integrated adapter pushes wireless data up to 2X faster than other Wi-Fi solutions—so you'll get fast, smooth transfers, even when your rig is further away from the router. Intel Wireless-AC 9260 also offers Bluetooth 5.0 for connections that are up to 2X faster than ever before, and with up to 4X the range.

* Actual speed varies, and depends on networking conditions.

10Gbps Onboard Ethernet

Designed for the demanding requirements of power users and content creators who push the envelope, 10Gbps onboard LAN plugs you into a new era of home networking. With up to 10X the bandwidth of standard gigabit Ethernet, you'll enjoy streaming uncompressed 4K UHD videos, and backups and file transfers that are faster than ever before. And there's also support for intermediate 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps connectivity, allowing you to step up to faster networks for maximum flexibility. Choose the bandwidth that meets your needs and enjoy ultra-low latency at any speed.

* Minimum Category 6 network cables required for 10Gbps operation. Category 5e cables support up to 5Gbps.

Intel Ethernet

ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega features the latest Intel Ethernet (I219-V) for faster, smoother gaming. This Intel controller has a natural synergy with Intel processors and chipsets, reducing CPU overhead and offering exceptionally high TCP and UDP throughput—so there's more power for games and other tasks.

ROG is renowned for superior onboard audio, and Rampage VI Extreme Omega is no exception. The front-panel headphone output features a SABRE9018Q2C integrated DAC/amp capable of reaching -115dB THD+N to provide playback that convey all the subtlety and nuances of the audio track. The improved resolution derived from the ESS Hyperstream DAC architecture expands the soundstage to give a better sense of positioning. Beyond resolution, the 121dB DNR provides an extremely low noise-floor, further accentuating dynamics and punch. And, when you want to shift priority to musicality, our Sonic Studio software provides an array of EQ options, allowing the sound signature to be tweaked to suit your cans.

Rampage VI Extreme Omega comes equipped with four M.2 slots to let you take full advantage of Intel VROC NVMe RAID for ultimate SSD storage speeds.

Use an onboard M.2 slot and the exclusive ROG DIMM.2 module to take advantage of Intel's Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) feature* by connecting the three M.2 drives in RAID configurations. With VROC, your RAID arrays are easily configured to be bootable, and traditional DMI bottlenecks are eliminated so your storage is not held back by other traffic.

* Additional purchase of Intel VROC hardware key required for RAID 1, 5 or 10

Wired directly to the X299 PCH, the lower onboard M.2 slot can be used in chipset-based RAID configurations to improve storage performance or provide a layer of redundancy.

Gear up with ROG components, from graphics and monitors to mice and keyboards, and up your game with complementary aesthetics, control and compatibility. The ROG ecosystem is more extensive than any competing brand, so enjoy greater choice as your system expands.

Interface directly with a ROG router and automatically configure QoS to prioritize network bandwidth to games.

Automatically caches all your storage devices to maximize your system's resources

The new Sonic Studio Link now allows you to apply Sonic Studio effects on all playback devices. Simply press the Sonic Studio Link button to enjoy the effect on any playback devices.

During the power-on, self-test (POST) phase, LiveDash shows key progress stats, in simple language and via traditional POST codes. Then, during normal operation, the vibrant panel shows a choice of CPU frequency, device temperatures, fan speeds or information from the Water Cooling Zone.

The brand-new Armoury Crate portal keeps you updated with the latest drivers and BIOS releases. Its easy-to-use UI can be configured to show a variety of information, including security updates, bug patches, the latest ROG news, gaming events and special offers.

Great board and easy to overclock :) 2/11/2020 1:00:00 PM

Pros: Fast and easy to setup BIOS.
Easy to overclock
LED's are nice but over time...

Cons: During clean Windows 10 (1909) install received error on boot with NDIS. Contacted support and they sent me to someone else who contacted me within 24 hours.

By then I figured out to disable the network cards (Both 1Gig and 10Gig) and the system will install Windows 10 without any issues. Installed NIC drivers and then went on my merry own way.

Wish they would have put all the "Fan connectors" in the same area.

Overall Review: Easy to setup Bios, configurable like crazy, and very fast. Worth the money and the LED Display pointed me in the right direction for system errors. One cable was not in all the way.

Do not buy this board 10/28/2019 12:25:55 PM

Pros: - Seemingly great feature set and good interfaces for avid gamers to shape their experiences
- ASUS's brand name is well established and should be trusted....

Cons: I will break this up into two sections which we will call Board 1 and Board 2: (no overclocking attempted at any time)
- Board 1 was installed and spun up only to find eventually that DRAM Bank's A1 and A2 were inop. Moved RAM sticks to B1, B2, C1, D1 and all seemed peachy save for the obvious questionable configuration, I pressed on through several iterations of disabling onboard networking components until Windows could complete its installation without erroring out due to the lovely but cryptic "stop code WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR". Once settled into the OS with updated drivers installed, the system still randomly crashed as a result of the "stop code WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR " even when I purchased an external WiFi dongle and disabled all networking onboard devices. At this point, expecting the MoBo has a bad bus or something which may have caused Bank A to be dead, I requested an RMA from newegg and they rushed to my rescue as always (love the Newegg customer support folks).
-Board 2 - A quick pop n swap should have solved all of my woes with this exorbitantly expensive build, but alas, the same "stop code WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR"has re-emerged at random intervals. I checked for any error logs to help isolate, but no useful info found. I have substituted memory, and video cards...the error persists. I have isolated my drive configuration down to a single brand new M.2 SSD from Intel and swapped it with a different drive...all showing the same basic results.

I am still confident the issue is with the main board given that I was able to actually effect behavioral changes in how often the error pops up by changing/disabling the onboard devices on the MoBo. I have decided to take the next step and purchase an entirely different Mobo. I will edit this review with my findings once that board arrives.

Overall Review: At this time I cannot recommend this board for purchase as I have no received what may be two unstable boards in a row. With a lifetime of tech enthusiasm, all I wanted was to build a new system which explores some of the more recent advances in personal computing hardware. What I got was an expensive sometimes functional paperweight and a fun engineering/IT mystery. Good thing I like those types of mysteries and am happy to do ASUS's work for them in troubleshooting this equipment especially since I have moved out of the IT sector now a days and sorta miss it sometimes. Anyway, more to come later.

The mobo for truly custom PCs 10/26/2019 9:50:51 AM

Pros: TWO water pump headers!
Water In/Out/Flow headers!
10Gig/2.5Gig LAN along with the standard 1Gig port.

Cons: Weight. This is a heavy AF board.
Price. This is debatable. You get what you pay for?
Only 1 company makes a water block to cool the VRMs and I/O, but I have it and it looks awesome.

Overall Review: I'm waiting to finish off this build with the "NEW" Core i9-10980xe.

I bought this board because of the 2 water pump headers so that I could run separate cooling loops for the CPU & VRMs and the RAM & GPUs. This build was for using CAD and playing DCS World.

As I mentioned, this board, out of the box, is heavy AF. Then, when I added EK and Bitspower water cooling blocks to the CPU, VRMs, RAM, and already heavy GPUs, I'm a little worried about the mobo being mounted vertically due to the shear weight of everything. Time will tell how this board deals with the weight stress.

Newegg's shipping was spot on. Ordered on a Thursday night. Had the board the following Saturday afternoon.

absolutely love it 10/10/2019 8:36:23 AM

Pros: great connections for easy cable management

Cons: none so far

Overall Review: I would absolutely buy this again. It was easy to build with and has more than enough features for my 3d graphic production rig. The BIOS interface is awesome too. Very happy with this build

Asus awesomeness 8/17/2019 6:17:54 AM

Pros: Build quality
Bios is laid out nicely & plenty of options
RGB is nice on the board, I feel it’s not over done & you can turn it completely off if you don’t like that sort of thing
It has plenty of usb options & even some of the newer tech
OLED screen on the rear I/O housing, which gives you POST information & once booted up gives you the processor’s average temp

Cons: I know many will put down price as a con, however with this product you get what you pay for, I tried a lesser product, because of lower cost & they are known for making very good graphics cards, however I ended up sending that board back due to a bad cpu socket or the ram sockets to the right of cpu socket, or a combination of both. On that failed board I tried different memory & different cpu & no change, still crashing @ windows.

Overall Review: Overall I feel this is a stellar product, well build & easy to use, booted up first time & ran without any issues from the start, I should have never deviated from my normal & found that cheaper isn’t always better, as good as this product is tho, I have found that you will need to turn off the other Ethernet port & WiFi if you want to install windows correctly & also leave them off otherwise I have found it causes conflicts with whatever internet option you choose to use, for me this is a nonissue because I use a hard line connection & want to use the intel networking adapter

Beautiful but useless 6/9/2019 4:58:17 PM

Pros: Looks amazing

Cons: Doesn't work
Poor customer service from Asus

Overall Review: Part of a new build. Wifi was problematic on install of operating system. After 5 hours of running updates/testing, completely shut off. Will not boot to bios. This is supposed to be Asus's flagship mobo. Disappointing.

Premium board with noisy VRM Fan 3/27/2019 2:08:29 PM

Pros: A beautifully laid out board. Eye candy. Haven't fully tested it yet but it over clocks well - running an i9-7960X at 4.7GHz on water. A follow up review is coming . .
P.S. Great service by Newegg in shipping/handling - two days it's on my doorstep.

Cons: The VRM fan noise is the an annoying irritation. Like having a squealing fan belt on a Lamborghini - LOL.
Wound up unplugging the fans from the motherboard header, defeating the active cooling. Disappointing for a premium priced motherboard. RAID impossible on DIMM.2

Overall Review: This is my second review of the Rampage Omega board. The first one had to be RMA'd because the motherboard LED's failed and the Intel Lan port went dead after installing RST. Thanks to Alexander in customer support a new board was expedited.
The replacement board meets all expectations except RAID support. I need a RAID 1 array to serve as an intermediate backup; using two Samsung 970 EVOs for data storage on the DIMM.2 module. I purchased the Rampage Omega because it offered RAID; so far, very disappointing. I had an APEX VI where this configuration with NVME drives worked perfectly.

Two weeks later and polite daily updates from ASUS Customer Support and we have no resolution regarding two Samsung NVME drives as a RAID array on the DIMM.2 module.
