Pros: I liked the pre-mounted i/o shield. a nice touch. Lots of fan connectors. The front panel connectors were clearly marked. *I've seen some that weren't)
Cons: Just a few things to help the next builder who uses this board: the very first time the board has power cycled through it , it takes around 40 seconds of the red/blue/white led's to cycle before the board actually posts. This is a scare that could be avoided if the manufacturer would indicate that in their manual. After Windows 10 was installed from a removable flash drive on this build, everything worked from the OS level except the front mic jack. After reseating everything , and even installing a completely different HD audio cable that ran to an external device, the problem came down to either the board or the driver. (windows swore the driver was up to date) Installed all drivers from DVD and everything worked. This is a scare that could be avoided if the manufacturer would indicate to install ALL drivers from the included DVD even if Windows claims everything is working just fine. I was wanting to raid 2 SSD's . In bios i changed SATA type from AHCI to RAID. however, nowhere in the manual does it explain what nvrm raid is, wasn't sure what to use for that. Eventually changed enough things to where the onboard raid controller recognized my 2 drives. Unfortunately Windows usb didnt recognize the raided set (showed no drives) , so backed out and just installed on 1 drive. (Found out I probably could have installed additional drivers from the included DVD to allow the raid set to be seen by windows installer, but it wasnt intuitive to try that) Again, another gotcha that could have been avoided if the manual had included that tip.
Overall Review: hey , its a mid tier board that offers a lot for it's price point. See comments above and you'll have no issues.
Pros: RGB lights
Cons: Not Ryzen 3000 ready out of the box
Overall Review: Even though it states in the box "3000 Ready" and it finally became available.. BIOS has not been updated for Ryzen 5 3600 (Gen 3 CPUs). What a shame. You'll need either old CPU (Gen 1 or 2) from a friend, Local IT or from AMD support. I did the later. I'd hate to buy a gen 1 or 2 CPU just to update the BIOS when manufacturer could have done so when it became in stock again.
Pros: - Great support for 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs out of the box, no BIOS update needed. - Great fan support and surplus of internal connectors. - I/O Shield came pre-installed to the motherboard, so no hassle with installing and removing one when upgrading in the future. - Super easy-to-follow User Manual!
Cons: - Aura Sync did not work with the motherboard and the LED strip I connected at first, but once I had a fresh install of Windows, everything worked smoothly. For the time that I didn't have a fresh install of Windows, I used iCUE from Corsair and that worked flawlessly. - No 5-pin RGB header on the motherboard, but using a four pin wasn't so bad, just no good lighting for white. You could also buy an adapter if you have a 5-pin RGB strip that'll connect to a 4-pin.
Overall Review: This is the first AMD motherboard I have ever bought, and using it has been great. It is paired with my Ryzen 7 3700x, which was also my first AMD CPU. They work incredibly well together, and if paired with some pretty fast ram, you'll have no issues. Just make sure that your ram is listed on the QVL, which you can find with a quick Google search! I would 100% recommend this motherboard for somebody building a brand new system, or someone looking to upgrade their system (like I did).
Pros: Instantly recognized APU without BIOS update. System is stable for about 2 months without any issues Installed IO shield is nice. Motherboard RGB is subtle
Cons: The stock cooler for the Ryzen 5 APU covers the 1st DIMM Slot. If you want to use all 4 slots then will need a different cooler.
Overall Review: So far this board has been stable. Running Ryzen 5 2400G APU with G Skill Trident Z RGB 3200 16gigs at full speed. I had to change a setting in the BIOS to get it to recognize at 3200. BIOS update also allowed change Integrated Graphics RAM to 2 gigs. I was able to use 2 monitors simultaneously.
Pros: just finished a new build for my 12 year old son. i used this mother board and no problems booted it first try . had to upgrade the bios but it works like charm. i have always used asus boards and never had a problem
Cons: none
Pros: My 3700x fired right up. The board came with the latest bios installed.
Cons: Not really a con but there is a learning curve involved for overclocking if you have been intel for a while. While I learn this bios I will not be overclocking.
Overall Review: Continuing the above, I had to set the memory speed and timings manually. Was not much of a hassle. Also the cpu voltage was set too high so I gave it an offset of minus 0.1. Aside from the fact that it cooled the cpu down a bit, it is completely stable at 1.35+_ as opposed to the 1.45+ for the high it was set at. Anyway the board is stable at this early stage and I would highly recommend this pairing.
Pros: Pretty colors, easy setup, ran great for over a year!
Cons: Appears to have a failed ram controller - This seems to be common reading online.
Overall Review: I like this board in general but the thing has been a little buggy since I bought it. I recently upgraded to an M.2 NVMe Samsung 970 Evo to try and rectify what I assumed was a buggy clearance-sale SSD from the local computer store. It worked about the same as before for a few days. I tried a BIOS update and re-seating my CPU cooler but it's only gone downhill from there. It will only boot with one stick of ram in slot 1 or 2, and won't POST with any RAM in 3 or 4. Trying to submit an RMA has been a pain. I finally was able to google how to send an email to Asus. Their website doesn't seem to have a path to any kind of messaging or communication. You can only submit an online RMA, which failed to work for me. Now it's a waiting game...
Pros: Pre-installed I/O shield was a good thing to have and made building the system easier Nice design Lots of room for expansion and upgrades
Overall Review: Got this to make the switch from Intel to AMD and it worked right out of the box with my Ryzen 5 3600. It has worked very well for the past month that I've been using it, and I do recommend it for anyone who wants to make a new Ryzen 3000 build.
