will it fit in a mid tower?

Yes it will.  I installed this in an NZXT Tempest Evo mid tower case without issue.  I haven't encountered a mid tower yet that won't accomodate a full ATX motherboard.

Does this mobo work with a intel core 17-6700 CPU?

Yes it will, but as always if you have issues make sure you update the motherboard firmware.

is this compatible with a corsair H55 Hydro series liquid cooler?

I use Corsair H100i V2 myself but that is what fits my case best. You can confirm with Corsair but I can see no reason why that model would not work on the same mobo. I do not even use the corsair control software. The Asus software is controlling my Corsair cooler and I monitor with Aida 64.

Whats the difference between H and the others?

The H is the most basic WTA form factor board in the lineup.  If you need something basic with good performance in an ATX form factor, this is a good board.

Question 5

How do you turn off or manipulate the "breathing" red led lighting since this board does not support Aura software?

Boot to bios and switch to advanced mode. In advanced mode you can see the breathing light option under onboard devices I believe.

How many GPU's can this board handle? Would it work for mining?

With PCIe risers it can hold 6, some people also use M.2 to PCIe risers and brings the total to 8.

Question 7

How do you get Optane to work with this motherboard? Tried installing the RST application from Asus's site. Its turned on in my BIOS and I have the drive installed. What else needs to be done?

Optane is only supported by 7th gen and higher Intel Processors.  You would need a 7000 series processor.  This motherboard supports both 6th and 7th gen processors. Please ensure you have the correct generation of processor.

I got a couple questions.
1. How many USB 2.0 ports are there as I am planning to use the nzxt kraken x62.
2. Will it support the i7 7700k Kaby lake?
3. Can I use vengeance lpx 16gb at 3000?
4. Are the ports labeled.

Q1) 6 USB 2.0 ports (2 @ back of panel, 4 mid-board) according to the manual.  I haven't put the computer together yet so it is still in the packaging.
Q2) It better...and is supposed too.  I have the same chip to install.
Q3) not familiar with a vengenance IPs
Q4) they should be but if not the manual has a great diagram of the mobo.  Recommend going to the ASUS website and downloading the manual.

Has anybody run SLI on this board? Considering a 1070 SLI set up

I have not but it's specifically a gaming board and you shouldn't have any issues with it. That being said, if you're considering SLI and haven't spent the money, I would suggest a 1080 or waiting for the 1080ti. You're going to spend the same or less amount of money, and a single card solution is always more reliable.

Nope. The pictures here are not obvious, but if you go to Asus' own website, for the STRIX Z270 series you'll see only Z270E and Z270G have onboard wifi.
