Pros: This review is for the ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming. I'm not going into the specifics of what this mobo can do. You can read all the details for yourself. I will say that the bios that comes with the mobo has lots of goodies to play around with. It's on par with the more expensive boards. A few things I do want to mention. After installing the mobo and firing it up for the first time, you should enable XMP so it will set your correct timings and speed for your RAM. And of course check to see if it recognizes your bootable drive. I have an SSD drive, and initially it only recognized it as a storage drive. So it wouldn't boot into windows. The mobo does give you the option to boot from the storage drive however...so that's what I did. After a bit of correction, got everything working fine now. This is a great board if you want to overclock your system. You can have the AI set your overclock, or do it manually. I have this board paired with the new Intel core I-5 9600K CPU. Makes for a very nice gaming system. Stick in 16gigs of Ram and a decent graphics card, and you'll be in gaming heaven.
Cons: None so far...other than everything seems to cost so much these days.
Overall Review: I've been using ASUS products since my first computer build back in 2004. Been buying from NEWEGG on all my builds as well. I do recommend this mobo as a middle of the road choice as far as price goes...it is one beautiful board that performs very well.
Pros: -Dual M2s -Layout of the board -Build quality/design -looks very nice
Cons: - A little tight reaching the fan plugs once my cooler was installed due to the armor plating but that's more the coolers fault - I already used up my Type-A USB backports. Mainly my fault since I have 5 plugs dedicated for my mouse/keyboard (thanks Razr) but I never have ran out before. I still have the Type-C and the front panels tho
Overall Review: i7-9700k noctua dh-15 32gb 3600 ram 2080 ti Had plenty of room to install this huge fan with my graphics card. My main reason to go with Asus is the customer support if their products dont work. When I put into a search of all the things I wanted on a MB by Asus, this one came up. What I noticed was it got 5 stars and was a perfect board or it got a very negative review. Looking at many of the negative reviews here I determined the cause to be one of the following: 1. Not using compatible memory (or issue with quality of memory). 2. Outdated Bios causing problems 3. Defective boards. 1 and 2 seem to be quite easily fixable and number 3, based on my experience and also looking at their responses to negative reviews, they will always fix the problem. I have had them RMA things instantly (a lot of companies fight you to death before an RMA). My experience with this board has been phenomenal so far. Booted first try, installed windows off of a CD onto the M2 drive. Used included CD drivers and connected WiFi immediately. After a week of normal use (see no OC no XMP) I activated XMP1 still no issues.
Pros: Running with a 9600k, 16gb Corsair LPX 3200mhz RAM, Noctual u12s push/pull, evga 1070 SC inside Corsair 570x. Overclocking to 5ghz is easy at 1.3v and decent temps, 80 load, 31 idle. I've always had Asus boards and this one is on par with those.
Cons: Bios update wiped out my saved bios profiles. Luckily I took photos of my bios settings on my phone so it was easy to setup again. Also won't auto update through bios or windows software.
Overall Review: If you want to OC more Gigabyte and MSI have better VRMs. I would advise against using the built in OC bios tools. Watch some youtube videos on 9th gen overclocking with an Asus board.
Pros: multiple m2 slots, RGB, very good construction, very performant, USB C, USB 3.1
Cons: none that I can think of.
Pros: It's a great motherboard. When I didn't know the spec properly, it wasn't good, but it's a great board. This board only works properly with Windows 10 64. In Windows 7, peripherals are not recognized properly. Recommended only for Windows 10 64 users.
Cons: I had a lot of difficulties when upgrading and upgrading the board in Windows 7. DOS I / O does not work. It's nice to know and use something special, but I've used DOS I / O occasionally. It's definitely a good board. Fast and very stable
Overall Review: Fixed motherboard issues. It now works fast and very reliably as normal. I will not return. Sorry for your concern. I will use it well.
Pros: Looks great and the RGB sync is great. Good looking UEFI/BIOS, easy to use and just great ove
Cons: A little expensive, but you're getting what you're paying for.
Overall Review: Highly recommend this board.
Pros: I came from an Asrock z370 Fatality K6 (bought a new board for 5v rgb header. I know im one of those lame-o's. (Fatality K6 is an amazing board and will be using in another build)) BUT I can vouch for some nice differences and I can say that I enjoy the Asus bios more. Flash from internet is nice. Ai overclock is a nice feature that works very well. I like that when overclocking they give you a prediction on how well the cooler will do and what kind of voltages will be delivered to the cpu. I personally have a manual OC on it but the AI works well. They include a small fan you can use to help cool the VRM heatsinks. There is a one click 5ghz button in the bios that looks interesting, I would recommend using the little fan if you're using 9th gen cpu as I hear they get warm. I'm using 8700k. USB type C and USB 3.1 ports galore (5) with (2) 2.0 slots Lots of fan headers. I actually plugged my aio into the wrong header and the mobo prompted me of an error in the configuration after POST. Went ahead and shut down and plugged into the right header, started back up without a hitch. SupremeFX sound (i can tell a slight difference over my asrock z370) Asus node. Excited to see what the future brings for that. RGB is actually looks great. The logos on the board and my card match perfectly as far as the quality. The cybertext is pretty cool but i can see why people wanted different text. It would have served them well to have it say Strix. Still a neat concept. M.2 heatsinks are a nice touch. They have an adhesive on the back of them though so be sure to only remove the plastic on top of the adhesive so that the adhesive can bond to your m.2 drive. They do help with temps quite a bit. I would say 10 degrees celsius cooler +\- 3 degrees or so.
Cons: Price is a little high. I wouldn't pay more than 200. I got for 215 with discount code.
Overall Review: I highly recommend the board.
Pros: - BIOS EZ Flash Tool worked without any issue...
Cons: - Only runs 1 or 2 minutes before freezing. Every. Time. - Crushing disappointment so far. :(
Overall Review: Build: - ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E - Intel Core i7-9700K - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 3200 - 480GB SSD; 1500GB HDD; 500 GB HDD - RTX 2060 This is the first time I will ever have had to RMA a motherboard in many years of building PCs. Here is the story: I put everything together (bought this with the recent combo deal including CPU and Memory). I installed it into my PC. Everything booted up okay at first start; I thought I was in the clear. I can sit in bios all day long and it seems to be fine with it. However, when I try anything at all outside of the bios (start installing windows) it will freeze after 1 or 2 minutes, regardless of the action being taken. If I'm sitting in the menu for installing windows it will freeze eventually even if not really doing anything. Same thing when I speed through the menus and try to get installing; after a short period of time it just freezes up. No specific place, just after a few minutes. Before I wiped the hard drives, it did the same thing when i booted up my old Windows OS. I assumed at first that it was because I changed all the hardware so needed to fresh install; but, like I said before, it freezes when trying to fresh install, too. I then noticed the bios was outdated by a few months. I had a glimmer of hope that it just needed updated to recognize the new CPU. I updated it using the EZ Flash tool without any issue at all. Fingers crossed and rebooted... Same exact freeze issue. I've tried performing the installation using only minimal parts to no avail. I tried each of the Memory sticks individually and in various slots; still freezes the same way. I've tried using each of my SSD/HDD individually one at a time (3 different drives); still freezes. Tried with and without my Video Card; and... Freezes. I'm very disappointed that all the work I put in to install it is only going to result in more work to take it apart and wait days for the RMA process to complete only to try again. A sour taste in my mouth to say the least...
