Question 1

What date of manufactured for the docking keyboard?  I used to have one that was made on Oct 2013 was defective as battery was not being charged (had to return), and I heard Asus fixed the problem on ones that made by Nov 2013 and later.

Mine was manufactured Oct 2013.  I returned the first one because the tablet was too loose in the dock and it would lose connection.  The replacement has the same manufacturing date but is a bit tighter so it doesn't lose connection as much.

where is the indication if the caps lock is activated or not?

The caps lock indicator shows as a persistent notification in the Android notification bar (only when caps lock is on)

is this for just the tf 700 or is this compatible with this tf 201 ?

This is just for the TF701T.  I have purchased 2 of these.  The first one would not dock tight enough and would lose connection when you moved the lid.  I returned it and the second one was a little better but it still happened.  Over time it became worst and worst till eventually I stopped using it.

mine does the occasional disconnect, who do I talk to about this?

I noticed a few disconnects in the connection in mine, but they are seemingly fixed since I installed all available firmware updates. If you haven't installed the latest firmware you may want to try that before trying to get further help. As for who to talk to, I'm not certain, but you might want to look into getting a replacement via an RMA (return to manufacturer). You should google 'Newegg RMA procedure' if you want to find out how.

What Date Code Is Currently Shipping ?

It's 2/27/14.  Does anyone know what Manufacturing Date code Newegg is currently shipping (it's on the outside of the box) ?

I don't know for certain, but I can say that I do believe it is the newer one. The tablet sits very secure on the dock, and it does not move around at all. The connection is solid, and it clicks in place so that you know is in securely. Also, the little silver release button moves all the way to the resting position (right) when the tablet is securely seated.

To my knowledge, the problem with the older keyboard was that the tablet had a bad connection with the keyboard, and it would move around and disconnect. That is not a problem with this one at all, I've been using it for over a month now with no problems at all.

NOTICE:
I did have one time where I had a bad connection, but it was completely my fault. My tablet was in the portfolio case that I have, and it did not go all the way down without a firm push. After looking at the release switch, I realized it did not move all the way to the right, meaning that the tablet was not all the way in the keyboard dock. After pressing it down more firmly, I heard a click and the release switch moved over to the right, and everything worked normally after that.

Question 6

Does anyone know if this dock is compatible with the TF700T?  They seem to have discontinued the dock for the TF700T so it's difficult to find a new (non open box or refurbished) one.

Sorry Jonathan it is not. I have the tf700 and tf701and the plug on the tf700t tablet and keyboard dock are bigger than the new tf701.

Does this TF701t dock come with its own charging cable?

No. All you get in the box is the Docking Station and the Manual.

Is this the exact same keyboard as for the TF700T, in layout and docking ability?   Does it have different hardware features than the 700T dock?

I have both tablets and docks in front of me. 
In short they are not interchangeable. The keyboard layout seems to be identical. 
The TF701T has a different nonstandard USB/power cable at the end that plugs into the tablet or dock. It is just slightly smaller than and looks incompatible with the TF700t. So the tablet has the same port to do the docking to. Since the ports are not compatible, the docks are not interchangeable. The docks look similar at the docking point, but the plugs are so different I wouldn't even try to plug in the 'other' tablet. So, this means the 701T does not look backward compatible with the 700. If you try looking at pictures next to each other of both docks you can see that the 701t usb plug was made slightly smaller. :-(
Newegg correctly shows different part numbers for the keyboards.
Other differences -
700 has usb 2.0, 701 has usb 3.0.
ASUS says on their website the 700 supports 32G micro sd and 64G SD. I have a 64G micro in mine and a 128G in the dock which both work. 
ASUS says the 701 will support 64G micro and 256G SD. I have a 64G mSD and a 128G SD in mine.

Would this work with Asus ZenPad 3s 10?

Dont know.  Call the vendor (not newegg) and check.  The connectors are all different with different versions of asus.  You can spend hours on Internet and get nowhere and asus support is useless.
