I guess i'm just dumb but this version of the board supposedly supports PCI-E 3.0 (within the product description) but if you click on A Newer Version is Available link that boards product description only mentions PCI-E 2.0 whats up with that?  If I I buy a "high end" board & CPU I would want PCI-E 3.0 to take full advantage of the Graphics Card

I own Gen 1 and waited past Gen 2 to also buy Gen 3.  Here is the history of this board:
Gen 1 Release date May 2011: Asus Sabertooth 990FX
Gen 2 Release date June 2012: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Gen 3 Release date March 2013: Asus Sabertooth 990FX Gen3.0 R2.0 (only one with PCI-E 3.0)
“In Feb 2013, ASUS announced the TUF Series SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0, the world's first AMD-based motherboard to feature PCI Express 3.0 for use with next generation high performance graphics cards. The ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 motherboard will be generally available in the middle of March.”
I'm now waiting for 12 or 16 core CPU and upgraded motherboard.  Dates unknown.

why did the MB ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 get discontinued?

F3-1866C8Q-32GTX will these g skill ram work with this mother board?

yes, they will work great. MB requires DDR3-1866/1600/1333/1066

the G-Skill ram is DDR3 1866 8mb. MB will take all 32 gigs of ram

are you planning to get this mother board or any other PCIe 3.0 with a socket AM3?

Unfortunately AMD CPU's and chipsets don't have the support for PCIE gen 3 but the PCIE gen 2 that is fully supported works great for me and there's not a huge difference in performance.

Question 5

Why is Newegg still not selling / shipping the new Asus motherboard SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 ?

I'm not exactly sure why. I know when this was available it said the motherboard was a limited edition. With that being said it's unknown as to why that was. I can say that it does work and I can also say without a doubt it has sound glitches only when signing into and out of windows. Other than than I can't offer much info as to why it's unavailable. My best guess is they had or have something better in the works.

Does this board support FX-9590? If so, will it still maintain its 5GHz turbo?

I want to know if anyone has done it themselves before I decide to upgrade the processor

No it will not support it. the 9590 is a 220w cpu and the sabertooth only supports up to 140w.

im sure it will fit in and work as its a am3+ socket cpu but you wont get the full use out of it on this board / potentially burn the board up.

Why do you say that ,"A newer version of this item is available" and the newer item does not have the same specs or better but lower specs? It is like this item was discontinued and downgraded and that is the newer version.

I think there is an error with this item listing.   In reality, the GEN3 is the more-recent board, and features some minor improvements, specifically in the configuration of the pci-e slots.

I recommend contacting the vendor directly.  I also highly recommend this mobo if you can get your hands on one.  It is an outstanding value for the price and has run flawlessly.
