How is the viewing angle on this? I just bought the ASUS VP228HE 22" and the viewing angle is pretty bad.

I have the monitor directly in front of me so I have not noticed an issue with side viewing.  Most monitors have a poor viewing angle and because of this using multiple monitors like I have at work requires them to be turned slightly inward to improve imagine clarity.  I bought this monitor because of the Eye Care (blue light filter) that reduces eye strain when using the monitor for many hours per day.

If I understand your question correctly, there is just a power cord with no brick running from the monitor to an outlet.  It is a detachable power cord.

Asus VA24EHE 24" is listed as having a 1ms Response Time only on Newegg. It is listed as having a 5ms Response Time other places. What is correct? Does this screen really have 1ms Response Time?
