Is the screen a matte finish or glossy finish?

Hello:

This Asus monitor has is a led back-lit matte finish with great colors and very good bright whites.  I use this monitor alongside a two year old version of the same monitor and there is no comparison.  Excellent monitor I would buy another.

Question 2

Could I, plug a computer into the DVI & a Wii U into the HDMI and switch inputs?  This supports HDMI audio too, right?

Yes you can , How ever this monitor is not HDCP compliant and New egg has done bad job in this case by hiding this detail, as I am stuck with this monitor and some of HDCP application will not run on this monitor

I would say this is kind of a cheating the customers.

Can you please confirm that speakers are built in?

There are speakers built in, but the sound is unacceptable except perhaps for phone calls. You have to max the level out on your sound card to get anything out of them. In other words, there is very little amplification going on. Also, they have zero bass. It's best to consider the monitor to not have speakers! Sorry.

Is this compatible with a Dell computer?

The monitor has both DVI and HDMI inputs.  If you have a VGA out you can use an adapter to convert the VGA to a DVI input for the monitor.  If you have an HDMI out from your computer, just connect the HDMI cable.  Pretty much any computer laptop or desktop should work for you.  We have connected it to Inspiron 660 desktops and several types of Dell laptops without any issues.

Can you raise or lower the monitor from the base?

The monitor base can not be raised or lowered vertically (up, down).  It does swivel forward and back (tilt) at the point of attachment.

Michael, I'm sorry it took me so long to answer I have been so swamped with work, I hadn't had time to answer my personal e-mails: I think you can mount this monitor on that bracket, I do not have that type of mounting bracket but the Asus VE247H Monitor I have has the holes in the back at 10.0 mm apart horizontal and vertical, which match the bracket outer holes. It is super light! maybe 10 lbs. max
But unless I saw them together I cannot tell, I hope that helps (the bottom mount holes on the monitor are about 5" from the bottom edge of the monitor)

How is this monitor for fighting gaames?

Hello, well, I don't really play fighting games...but I do play some FB games such as Hidden Shadows and Pioneer Trail.  I take a lot of photos and editing of them.  It is okay for that... It seems to have sharp graphics with good color and quick response time for the gaming I do.  TBH, I had an older model 23" ACER that I liked much better... sorry I don't have the model number for that at this time.  Hope this helps :)

I just ordered the Asus VE247H monitor and want to connect it to my MacBook Pro 13" mid 2012. I assume HDMI is the best connection choice, is this right? What specific cables will I need? Will any mini display port to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable work?

I'm using the DVI port because my docking station uses that (and the monitor comes with DVI and VGA cables; no HDMI cable included).  I would assume that any good mini display to HDMI adapter or cable would work fine, or any adapter to convert DVI or VGA to mini display port.  I doubt that you'll notice any difference between the DVI or HDMI connections in terms of display quality.
