Will this amp work to power an unpowered sub?

50 watts isn't a lot to power a passive subwoofer. You won't get a lot of dynamic punch out of it. Most people use at least 150, normally around 300 watts of power for a passive subwoofer. If it is a really small subwoofer you might be fine. Check what the manaufacturer recommends.

Yes.

A small problem at first made it seem not to work, but after exercising the input jack a few times, it straightened up and now runs beautifully.
It is as though there is a coating on the jacks that has to be worn through in order to make good contact.

I received the AMP100VS.  I don't think AudioSource is making any more of the AMP100 models.  BTW, it is great!

does this have a sub jack plus 2 speaker jacks?

No, it is only a stereo amplifier, it doesn't do any processing, which is required for a true "sub out" or LFE (low frequency effect) which is commonly found on a receiver. It does have a line out that you can send to the subwoofer, but it will be getting the full signal at whatever crossover you have your sub set to. Also note that the line out is NOT effected by the volume knob, so if you go this route, you have to have a preamp to set the volume to both the amp and the subwoofer, or else you'll have to change the volume on the sub every time you change the volume of the amp. The best thing to do is get a preamp and split the output of the preamp to the amp and subwoofer.

I just want to power 4 in ceiling speakers. those speakers would be playing audio from a projector which is connected to a laptop via HDMI or VGA. What are my compatibility problems or what would I need ot make that all work?

Unfortunately it's not that simple, but its not that complex either. This only has rca inputs for left and right audio. Since hdmi has audio and video, if you are using hdmi to the projector, you will need audio out from the projector to the amp. That is going to depend on what outputs the projector has. If it doesn't have left and right audio out, and has optical out, you will need to add a DAC to convert it. If you are using vga from the laptop to the projector, that will strictly be video, you still need an audio out from the laptop. In this case, a 2.5mm headphone jack to rca to the amp.

Need basic info. Is it 120v?  Will it connect a Bose Wave player with speakers?  What form are the output connectors.

It is 120v only. It will not connect to a Bose Wave player since they are amplified internally. It has standard speaker wire binding posts on the back that all amplifiers have today. It will accept almost any form of speaker wire connector.
