Serrated Edge for Shaving Tinder
- Designed for scraping bark, jute, wood, and more
- Creates fine tinder for quick and reliable ignition
- Separates spark and shave functions to preserve edge performance

Step 1: Prepare Tinder
Gather dry, flammable tinder such as dry grass, leaves, cotton, fatwood shavings, or scrapings from bark. These materials easily catch sparks and are essential for successful fire starting.

Step 2: Scrape Off Coating & Make Ferro Shavings
Before first use, scrape off the black protective coating on the ferro rod until shiny metal is visible. Use the serrated edge of the striker to gently shave small ferro rod particles onto the tinder. These shavings catch sparks easily and help ignite the fire faster.

Step 3: Strike to Ignite
Keep the “UP” marking on the striker facing upward. Use the flat striking edge (not the serrated side), hold it at a 45° angle against the ferro rod, and scrape downward firmly. Sparks will ignite the tinder bundle.

Step 4: Fire Ignites
Once the sparks ignite the tinder, a flame will rise. Gradually add twigs or firewood to build up the fire for warmth, cooking, or survival needs.
