Could i use this to stream gameplay from something like a Wiiu, Xbox, or PS4 to Twitch by connecting the system AND be able to see it displayed on my PC?

You can certainly stream it but the extent of viewing it on your display I do not know for sure. You can certainly see it through the streaming interface software or any other streaming encoder, but I do not know the quality or real time viewing in order to play a game on your display, which is what I think your inquiry is all about.

What is the difference between this and the Live Gamer HD? Besides inputs?

This is the no frills card.  More generic look, packaging, bundled wires etc.  Functionally both cards run 1080p and can capture up to 60fps (only 720p I think, 30fps at 1080p).  I used this card on my YouTube channel PixelFreakGames for capturing Android games (needed special drivers) and it worked well at 1080p for my Galaxy S4 captures.

is it possible to capture directly from a VCR using the VGA to component adapter with this card?

I have tired multiple capture cards for converting VHS to digital. I have found that there are no current cards, for me, that kept the quality of the video. What I found worked great was a vhs-dvd combo player. I copied the movies directly to dvd, Then uploaded to my computer. There was absolutely no loss of quality. I'm sure some professional has pry figured out a better way.

I am sorry I have no idea what MHL is!!   I used the board some time ago to capture 1920 x 1080 video which it did very well but I have long since upgraded to a Canopus/Grass Valley HDSTORM capture card!!

Question 5

I need to mirror on my computer monitor in real time what is being displayed on my TV.  My concern is lag between what is being displayed on the TV and what is being displayed in the preview window on the computer monitor.  I am not concerned with streaming, recording or what software displays the picture.

This is why...

I have a couple LED Lightpacks (10 LEDS) installed on the back of my TV which run all the way around the edge providing content-driven ambient lighting.  ie. if the top of the picture is blue and the bottom is green the top LEDS turn blue and the bottoms turn green.  These LEDS have to change colors in sync with what is being displayed on the TV in real time.  If the lag is to large (1 sec or more), it will ruin the experience.

The LEDS are mapped to an area of the computer monitor and communicate via USB.  Software then samples the average colors in the area and sets the LED to that color.  If I can mirror the TV image on the computer in any software package that can preview what is being received by the HDMI input it will work.

Will this card have the minimal lag that I'll need?

Ok, I have heard about the tech you are talking about, but although I've never used it, I can tell you from experience with the capture card that there is unnoticeable delay, but I am using The 15-pin D-sub connector, which carries the signal for pretty long distances (I'm using 100ft cables) without degradation or delay. If you use HDMI, it will need a booster after a certain distance (30ft, I think). If all you need is a program that can show you a preview of the source image in order for the LEDs to know what colors to display, I really will recomend that you don't use the software provided with the capture card, I don't know if it was just my computer lacking processing power, but the lag was noticeable. Instead, I'd recommend using Open Broadcasting Software (OBS), even if you don't plan on streaming, it will allow you to preview the capture card with nearly zero latency. I hope that helps you out.

I am looking into entering the console streaming world and am debating between you capture cards for use.  This one or the  AVermedia AVerMedia AVerTV HD DVR C027?

I dont have a lot of cash for this and wont want to get a external capture device as from what i have read they have pretty bad lag responses so im going with a card which has very very low delays in its processes.   I am only needing a card that can capture content from my PS3.   I may try and stream some PS2 games at a future day but most of what i want to play is on the PS3.   If there is a cheaper card that will do what i want then i would love to know.

Couple things to note are that this is one if not the less expensive card that will capture 1080p at 60fps, and has two possible ways to connect (HDMI and D-Sub). However, you might also want to check that there are no issues with HDCP between the card and the gaming consoles you want to use, otherwise you won't be able to capture your gameplay. Maybe try to search in YouTube or forums for people using this card and capturing from the same consoles as you.

Will this work on windows 8.1? also will it record and save gameplay? im using the free version of bandicam for i can upload to youtube, facebook to show off my games etc?
My computer build is a 650 watt gamer.

It does work under Windows 8.1 .... that is how I am using it!!

I use it to capture footage and then to burn/record the footage onto Blu-ray blank disks using the professional EDIUS editing program.

I do not know what either "gameplay" or "bandcam" is and I do not use YouTube nor Facebook so I can not help you with that part of the question!!

Will this use alot of my CPU i will be livestreaming
or would you recomment the avermedia live gamer?

First, I do not know what an avermedia live gamer is ... so I am unable to make any recommendation in that regard!!

I use my Avermedia board solely as a capture device for video that I eventually burn onto a Blu-ray disc.  I do not think this capture board uses much of the computer CPU to capture, rather, it is self contained with its own processor.

I believe HDMI is required to be encrypted via HDCP and is specifically designed to prevent capture over HDMI.  In some cases, you may be able to capture the video, but the audio will be encrypted.  However, I STRONGLY recommend you research the laws and requirements in your area concerning HDMI signals and capture.  Legalities can vary from region to region.
