Does the box use WiFi or need a direct connection to upload videos to YouTube?

To clear things up - IT DOESN'T NEED A DIRECT CONNECTION. A Wi-Fi adaptor like the (Netgear WNCE2001) is all you need to add a Wi-Fi capability of the device. Been using the device since last year with the Wi-Fi adaptor without any problems.

Question 2

Can this device record and output 720p 60 fps?

Also - will it work with Windows XP 32-bit?

1. 720p  I've used it to capture old VHS tapes which are 720 with no problem.  Don't know about SAVING at 60fps, but I would imagine it would capture what it sees.

2. One of the reasons I love this unit is the fact it runs independtly of any OS such as XP.  I run Linux and just plug the USB drive into my computer to transfer the videos and jpgs.

I was wondering if i were to be downloading all my videos to YouTube, do i need a memory card that goes into the bottom of the Avermedia HD II console?

You need to supply your own sata hard drive (inserts into bottom) or thumb drive (front panel). I personally use a cheap laptop sata drive for larger capacity.

Ive recorded several hundred hours of video with the unit. I have been very happy with the quality (even at 1080p) and it has never had any sync issues between audio and video.

However I would say that there are some minor mistakes in the recorded media header info that makes it sometimes hard to edit with 3rd party apps.

Im hoping a f/w update will resolve this issue. That being said, I am very pleased with the unit and use it daily without issue.

Will this also work as PC Capture card. 
USB plugged into a pc?

I dont see a opposite end USB

I.E. I know you can record to USB Flash/HDD & Sata HDD, but can the usb be plugged into a PC, or laptop and capture to the computers hard drive.

No it can not it is a standalone capture card that can record via flash media or upload videos to youtube when connected with the internet. Better off going with AVerMedia ExtremeCap if you have usb 3.0 and want 60fps, avermedia Live Gamer Portable if you have 2.0 and you get 30fps. If you want no delay and have a good enough desktop get the avermedia live gamer hd internal card.

I just bought this and cannot record because it says that the default storage has been removed.  What does this mean and how to I fix it?

It does not come with any storage. You have to provide a storage device - either in the form of a USB flash drive or an internal optical drive. Also, you will need to format the drive correctly before using. Consult the manual for the specs.

Has n e one used the iOS/Android app? I would like to use the device to record streaming content @ home while im at work. Could I start a recording remotely using the app?

I don't think so. You have to be on the same network to connect to the capture device. There maybe a way to make it think you're on the same wifi network while you're away but it is beyond me.

Question 7

Is it possible to access captured video files via the ethernet port?  
I am considering using this product in a location that is on the same LAN, but in a different room from the PC I wish to use to edit captured video; however, I'd rather not have to transport storage media back and forth.

Sorry Elliot, I completely misunderstood your question in my answer. Listen to John. :)  However, I do see that the device shows up on my network as, I think, a UPnP device, so if I can find software that will download from UPnP servers, it still might be possible to transfer files over a network. John will probably have more specific expertise along those lines. I, too, would like to be able to access the files on the capture device and bring those MP4 files directly into a PC-based video editor.

I want to make xbox videos and upload them to you tube so is it easy to set it up and install with vioce commentary included?

The capture device records in-game chatting including yours. You can also add a voice commentary while editing your game prior to uploading it on Youtube. There's a 3.5 mm microphone as well as   a 3.5 mm headphone input jack at the front that you can use in doing live commentaries.

no, this product absolutely not for live stream. its main function is recoding. uploading the recording to youtube is second. and those are all.

Will this device capture and output 720p-60 fps?

Yes in 720p it can do 59.94 fps but if you put it in 1080p it only does 29.94 fps. Hopes this helps.
