Question 1

Is the XL2540X+ a worthwhile upgrade from the XL2540K?

Accepted Answer

The XL2540X+ offers 280Hz and a 24.1-inch display, compared with the XL2540K’s 240Hz and 24.5-inch display. Choose the XL2540X+ if you want the higher refresh rate and newer Fast-TN design; the XL2540K remains a 240Hz Full HD option if that refresh rate meets your needs.

Question 2

Should I get the BenQ XL2540X+ or XL2546X+?

Accepted Answer

Choose the XL2540X+ if you want a 280Hz, 1080p Fast-TN monitor and do not need DyAc 2. Choose the XL2546X+ if you want the same listed screen size, resolution, and refresh rate plus DyAc 2 motion-blur reduction. BenQ lists DyAc 2 on the XL2546X+ but not on the XL2540X+.

Question 3

Is the XL2540X+ enough, or should I step up to the XL2566X+?

Accepted Answer

The XL2540X+ reaches 280Hz, while the XL2566X+ reaches 400Hz and includes DyAc 2; both are Full HD TN monitors. Choose the XL2540X+ for 280Hz esports gaming without requiring those higher-refresh-rate features. Consider the XL2566X+ if your PC can consistently produce very high frame rates and you want its higher refresh ceiling and strobing option.

Question 4

Is the XL2540X+ a good choice for competitive PC gaming?

Accepted Answer

It is aimed at competitive play: the 24.1-inch Full HD TN panel supports up to 280Hz and lists a 1ms response time. To benefit from the high refresh rate, the PC and connection must support the desired display mode and the game must run at a high frame rate.

Question 5

Is it suitable for everyday work as well as gaming?

Accepted Answer

It can handle everyday tasks such as browsing and documents, and its height, pivot, swivel, and tilt adjustments help with desk setup. Its 24.1-inch Full HD screen and gaming-focused TN panel make it a more specialized choice than a larger, higher-resolution display for extensive office work.

Question 6

Will it work with a PS5 or Xbox?

Accepted Answer

The product information lists PS5 and Xbox compatibility and HDMI 2.0. It can be used as a Full HD console display, but console refresh rate depends on the console, game, and settings; do not expect a console to use the monitor’s full 280Hz PC refresh rate.

Question 7

Does the XL2540X+ support VRR on PS5?

Accepted Answer

Do not assume that PS5 compatibility means PS5 VRR support. One Reddit user reported that their XL2540X+ did not support VRR on PS5; if VRR is essential, verify compatibility for the exact setup before buying.

Question 8

Would it be a noticeable upgrade from a 165Hz laptop screen?

Accepted Answer

The 280Hz specification is a substantial refresh-rate increase over 165Hz, but the benefit is not equally noticeable to everyone. A Reddit discussion includes both a buyer expecting a major change and an owner who noticed little difference in games, so expectations should be measured.

Question 9

Is it a worthwhile upgrade from a 280Hz IPS monitor?

Accepted Answer

Probably not for refresh rate alone: a Reddit discussion compares it with an existing 280Hz IPS display, and the XL2540X+ does not offer a higher refresh rate. It may still appeal if you prefer its 24.1-inch size or TN motion characteristics, but TN viewing angles are a reported trade-off.

Question 10

Is the XL2540X+ worth buying for competitive FPS gaming?

Accepted Answer

It may suit PC players who prioritize a 24.1-inch, 1080p display with up to 280Hz refresh and fast motion handling. Reddit discussions flag the lack of DyAc/strobing as a key trade-off, so consider another model if that feature is important to you.
