Is it possible to choose a different pattern as the default startup RGB color on the front strip?

Yes! There is a button on the side of the case labeled RGB which changed the mode. There are a lot of different options of effects to choose from which include fading the colors and solid colors. Also there is a pattern with white and a single color. Hopefully that helps! It is a very nice cheap case with ok room to work with. Looks better in person than in the pictures!!
