Question 1

Hi, I'm new to building PC's. Will i need to purchase a sound card and LAN card?, or is that included with the motherboard? If i do need to purchase.. any suggestions? I've chosen an AMD A10 TRINITY quad core, cpu+gpu. I also have a 600 watt power supply. I completely forgot about lan and sound though.

Nowadays, sound and LAN are built right into most (if not all) motherboards. For most people, the onboard sound and LAN meets their basic needs (like me). Hardware enthusiasts however might encourage separate add-on cards for sound/LAN to squeeze some burden off of the CPU. I personally have this board paired with an A6 APU because it was more cost-efficient at the time of purchase. If you're planning on using this board for a simple desktop [work] workstation (as I did), it should meet your needs (and @55b, your budget as well).

Does it have a integrated video card built in motherboard?

It does not. You will have to purchase an FM2 APU with integrated graphics or a discrete graphics card.

Will this board work with processor A10-6700  out of the box ?

I built my son's PC in 2013 with an "AMD A6-5400K Trinity Dual-Core 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 65W AD540KOKHJBOX Desktop APU (CPU + GPU) with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 7540D"
If you use the "AMD A10-6700 Richland Quad-Core 3.7GHz Socket FM2 65W AD6700OKHLBOX Desktop Processor AMD Radeon HD" which has the same FM2 socket and 65W power spec it should work.

I believe I upgraded to a 600w supply that I already had and added additional fans for cooling the Video card. It is my son's PC and he still uses it.

is the mobo wireless or does it need a cable?

You probably misread the Hi-Fi which is sound. This board does not have wireless built in. I got a Rosewill PCIe card for around $10 that works great.

What kind of power supply does it need exactly? Any specific item that you use?

Karen -

The short answer is that a 450W power supply with a 24-pin (sometimes called a "20+4 pin") main power connector and a 4-pin +12v connector will suffice for a "normal" setup.  If you wish for more information, keep reading.

The main power connector of the BIOSTAR A85S3 requires a combination of the 20-pin and 4-pin power connectors (also called a "20+4" connector) and it requires an additional 4-pin connector (to power the CPU).  If you also wish to power a "souped up" video card, make sure the power supply you're looking at supports the power connector which the card requires.

The wattage is your next determination.  This depends on all the other hardware for which your power supply will be providing power.  There are calculators (search Google) that will help you make a good guess of the required wattage by entering how many drives, what types, how many fans and any other extraneous equipment the supply will be powering.

All that aside, a good guess and starting point for a "normal" computer setup is a 450W power supply.  "Normal" means one or two hard drives, one CD, DVD or Blu-ray drive no more than two case fans, an average processor (with fan) and a non-powered graphics card.

6gb/s is Sata III right?

Yes 6Gb/s  are SATA III ports. I checked the manual this is actual wording from manual :

SATA1~SATA6: Serial ATA Connectors
These connectors connect to SATA hard disk drives via SATA cables.
?? Hi-Fi A85S3 & Hi-Fi A75S3 satisfy the SATA 3.0 spec and with transfer rate of 6.0Gb/s.
?? Hi-Fi A55S3 satisfies the SATA 2.0 spec and with transfer rate of 3.0Gb/s.

does the mb support richland cpus out of the box? i'm looking to pair it with an a4-6300 and if i remember correctly, there were some hudson boards that needed the bios update before the richland was installed.

Yes, Richland APUs do work. I am using an a10-6800k. It would probably be a good idea to update the drivers though.

Does this have integrated graphics?

It depends on the processor you put in it.

If you buy a socket FM2 A-Series APU (example: A4-4400, A8-6800K, A10-7700K) then yes you will have integrated graphics.

If you buy a socket FM2 CPU such as Athlon X2 or x4, then no you will not have integrated graphics.

Question 10

Does this motherboard have 3 or 4 pin fan connectors? I'm looking to use it in a media server and was hoping to control fan speed depending on usage... thus prefer 4 pin connectors.
