BIOSTAR NF61S Micro AM2 SE AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Stable, Good Features and decent upgrade path. Very pleased.

Cons: None - Wish board supported 4GB or ram & more SATA sockets.

Overall Review: Running with 1GB PC2-4200, 250GB SATA, Brisbane AMD X2 3600+ 1.9Ghz cpu, XP Pro....Runs GREAT!

Pros: good board for the money and its some what reliable

Cons: the ide controller on this thing sucks, i tired to connect a ide harddrive and dvd drive to the same ide channel(since it only has one) and it would work fine untill the dvd drive had to access large files (such as a program installer) it would get this weird looking screen that looked like if an original nintindo game had locked up the pc and no error messages on what would be causing the problem, so i switched the hard drive for a sata ready one and the problem has gone away, is as if the IDE controller would get confused on what files where coming and going then crash

Overall Review: dont put more than one device on the IDE channel or you will see some funky looking error screens

Pros: Stable and FAST. Vista installed without a hitch - no drivers necessary. Tons of options in the BIOS - more RAM timing options than many $200+ boards out there.

Cons: Could use more USB & FAN plugs - and better placement of the single extra fan plug on the board. Only PCIe 8x. BioStar has played very close to the vest about this board's 8x limitation, instead refering to it as 16x compatible.

Overall Review: After realizing the board was only 8x I contacted NewEgg and they accepted a return after their 1 month limit *AND* corrected the information in their site description. That's serious customer support! NewEgg rocks - BioStar could take a hint. This board deserves a 5 for the price, features, stability, etc. - but being smarmy about it's 8x limitation is lame. I should have researched the chipset more than I did *before* buying, but BioStar could have chosen to be undeceptively accurate in their description (on their site and in the specs they send vendors). If PCIe 8x is OK for you this is an AMAZING board for the price, no doubt about it.

Pros: Cheap, easy to install (pretty much standard procedure - did not have to change any tricky/undocumented settings in the BIOS). The boards has all the usual features but not in abundance. It's got a little bit of everything making it a good choice for a basic computer.

Cons: The biggest bummer with this board so far is that it doesn't emulate USB mouse/keyboard so they don't work during the boot process. They work in the BIOS and after the OS kicks in, but if you need to make a selection in the windows boot menu, or a different boot-loader such as GRUB you're out of luck!! Another issue seems to be that the OS thinks the Sleep button is being pressed when it's not. It also may be a software problem but it's a problem none-the-less.. So far I couldn't get the sound card to produce any sounds on the output.. I have to play with it some more!

Overall Review: This is definitely not a board for a high-end computer but a good match for one that's going to be used to browse the internet, e-mail and light tasks such as editing documents and the such. I paired this MoBo with an Athlon X2 64 2.0Ghz AM2 processor and 2Gb of RAM, running Linux (Ubuntu 7.04 Fiesty Fawn so far, will probably switch to CentOS as soon as I can get a PS2 keyboard.. :D)

Pros: For the average, "does a little of everything PC," this is, or will be a good choice. Header placement is not the best for a microATX board, but not impossible to work with. The onboard graphics only score a 3.0 in the Vista ratings, but make no mistake, this is no gaming board.

Cons: Header placement for the floppy drive and system fan. The USB2 onboard port is DOA on this board. Guess I have to RMA :( There goes a little profit!

Overall Review: I will certainly consider this board for my next basic build(s) until another mid level board comes out that shines a little brighter.

Pros: Purchase with the X2 3600 combo. Works great with Windows Vista right out of the box :) I didn't need the driver cd as Vista took care of everything.

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: Not sure what OS the others trying to load but should be able to find drivers on Nvidia website

Overall Review: purchased 2 MSI boards before this...MSI has bad customer service though...I think I am going with biostar from here on out...well...we will see how it works our first...so far so good...

Pros: -Very good motherboard for the price. -Does the job, very stable. -Easy to understand for beginners.

Cons: -Only 2 slots for RAM. -Fastest supported RAM speed is 800.
