I just bought this monitor and its great. one thing that i noticed is that the edge of the display has a curved effect. (like a curved  galaxy S8 phone. is this normal?

I never noticed this until you pointed it out. It has the same effect on my monitors edges. Kinda cool / interesting. Certainly doesn't take away from the experience or cause any issues though from normal use.

Can the monitor be lowered? If so, in its lowest position, how far is the bottom of the panel from the bottom of the base?

is this product 100hz or 120hz? Under "Style" it says "Quad HD, 120hz" but the specs list 100hz.

I talked to someone in a comments section who owned one. They said that it's 100Hz stock but they could overclock it to 120Hz. Can't confirm that he was telling the truth or not. This monitor is brand new, very little info out so far.

Question 6

Does anyone know if the VESA mounts are inset or flush with the back of the monitors casing? I ask because I have an Ergotech stand which is compatible with 100 and 75mm patterns but not 75mm if the mounting pattern isn't flush with the casing.

I mounted this monitor with my Ergotech arm just fine. I just can't recommend the panel in any way because of the VA screen, horrid viewing angle, crushed blacks, and bad motion handling. If you want a monitor like this, go for an IPS version.

Normally this monitor displays a solid red light when in sleep/hibernate mode, but as of recently, after about 20 minutes, it changes to solid blue (which usually indicates that the monitor is on, but it doesn't appear to be, and my PC is still sleeping. Has anyone else experienced this issue with this monitor?

This has been happening to me as well. No clue why but I just hold the button and turn it off. It doesn't happen super often so far but I'll probably notice more now.

Does this work with the G-sync that Nvidia is now making the drivers co-operate with Freesync?

Yes it does. I've got a GTX 1080 and can confirm. I haven't noticed any real issues with mine.

Does it have a mounting bracket? For a desk stand?

Question 10

When looking at the sides of this monitors, the screen portion looks as though it's curving inwards, as opposed to outwards. If I physically move my head left of right, it normalizes, so it seems like an optical illusion of sorts. Does anyone know if this is normal for a large curved monitor?

I noticed this too when I owned the monitor, something to do with the aggressive curve and VA panel. I returned this model the week I got it due to crushing of blacks and viewing angle. Went with the Acer 38" 3840X1600 IPS model for $800 and all issues solved. 
My advice: only buy IPS panels.
