Still using it 11 years later 2/11/2019 5:26:14 AM

Pros: - Built like a tank
- Nice simple aesthetics
- Very easy to work on
- Dust filters in the front

Cons: - No cable management
- Heavy

Overall Review: Well worth the $49.99 I paid in 2008. The plastic side air duct broke but I prefer an 80mm fan there anyway. I'm not sure why I'm writing a review for an over decade old case that is no longer in production.

Good case 11/5/2017 8:36:24 PM

Pros: I like the aluminum edges on the front and the many 5.25 inch slots. This works well with my raid cage which takes up two 5.25 inch slots. I like the tool less system for the optical drives, but it is hard to line up the holes correctly.

Cons: I found it a hassle to remove the 5.25 inch slot covers. The top pci slot is hard to use for pcie video cards with hdmi and display port because there is a reinforcing bit of metal preventing the cable from plugging in fully. I am thinking of removing it with a dremal. I could not bend it down with my Leatherman.
The hard drive fan is small and loud. You can only put a 80mm fan there.

Fantastic Case, even in this day and age. 8/11/2017 8:34:32 PM

Pros: This case makes it very easy to upgrade over time. Between the tool-less design, 5 5.25" bays, and 1 3.5" bay it is so easy to deal with. My case that still has the quality control stamp from 2006 and 11 years later it is still easy to use with modern components. Having 2 USB 2.0 hubs, a mic and headphone jack in the front is fantastic. It also has Fire-wire (IEEE 1394) but is the only thing on this case that could be considered antiquated. That being said I added a USB 3.0 hub in the 3.5" slot to make it more usable and modern. Another great thing about this case is the airflow. With the front being fully open and filtered it does a great job of keeping the computer clean and cool. The case comes with a rear 120mm fan and a front 80mm fan. In order to get positive pressure I added a front 120mm fan in three of the open 5.25" bays as the covers are also filtered so there is no opening in the front of my case.

Cons: This case in my opinion only has two things wrong with it. It lacks the proper space for cable management which isn't that big of a deal if you have zip ties and the second thing is with the built in hard drive cage you cannot put a large graphics card in it. Other people list the cases weight as a con but I do not see it that way. Weighing 22 lbs. without a single component in it may seem overkill but that just implies good build quality with a thicker gauge of steel that you cannot get nowadays. It is also a plus for me because I modified it and put a side panel in and my LED strips and magnetic which is great because they stick well and are easily removable.

Overall Review: My case is cosmetically different from the case in the listing. Not because of the added side panel though. My case is from a PowerSpec 9800, a $4,500, top of the line gaming PC from 2006. The only difference that I can tell is it has different badges in the front. Instead of the head I have a silver square that says "Cooler Master Gear", at the top of the case it says "Chassis by Cooler Master", and it says "PowerSpec" right above the power button.

Looks great, solidly built, lots of room inside 9/9/2016 3:32:24 PM

Pros: Easy to work with. Plenty of drive bays. Cooling works well. No problem installing a large CPU cooler.

Cons: The power on/off switch doesn't feel very robust. I've always been very gentle with it.

Overall Review: I built a Windows Server 2003 box in one of these cases in September 2007. I've never had a serious issue with the case. If I need to buy another, I'll consider this brand again without hesitation.

I took out everything except one of my SSDs and built a new Windows 10 machine with a new motherboard, CPU, memory, BluRay burner, and a 1 TB SSD as the main drive. I put a 2-port USB 3.0 hub where the old floppy drive used to live. It still looks great and stays cool!

9 Years! 11/26/2015 9:12:49 AM

Pros: I've now owned this case for 9 years - 2006, to 2015. When I got this case, it was the cheapest "high quality" case on the market, competing against expensive Antec, Lian Li, Thermaltake, Silverstone, and Zalman. Then all the "budget" and lower-quality brands like Xigmatek, NZKT, Raidmax, and others....and I took one look at the Centurion 5 - and fell in love with its simple design, good construction and fair price. 9 years later, it's in still in good condition one of the fans is just starting to fail (front,) but worked just fine for 9 years. The back fan is still fine, the tool-less drive locks still work after multiple rebuilds. Quality at $50, for a $150 product :D

Cons: It's a teensy bit of a heavy case, but it's very well constructed. The only real problem is the lack of cable management options. The space between the back-panel and the back of the MB tray is very narrow, so the only real space to stash cables and route them is behind the 3.5" bays; or coil cables and stuff them into the external bays. Not a problem if you have a modular PSU, but back when I built it, Modular PSUs weren't mainstream (or cheap.)

Overall Review: If I could buy it again, I would. If coolermaster wants to re-release this case with update cable management features (more space behind mb, cable routing holes with rubber/plastic grommets, etc....) that'd be awesome!!

never disappointed 2/1/2015 6:39:31 PM

Pros: Lots of room. Easy to configure and simple to cable. Sturdy, simple, still on the job. Processor always has run cool only using one fan in this roomy case. This was my first build and I was not disappointed in the least.

Cons: None
