How long is the USB cable for this keyboard?

Not near it now, but it is longer than average, and also thicker as it is a braided cord with two wires contained inside the cord. Keep that in mind if you need to feed the cable through any small openings like cable management devices, etc.

Why is this more expensive than the old version of the same keyboard?

The K70 does not have macro keys. This version, the K95, has the 18 customizable macro keys you see on the left side of the keyboard. Also this keyboard does not have USB passthrough where the K70 does. In other words the K70 allows you to plug in a flash drive or another USB device right to the keyboard instead of your case. This feature was removed in the K95 version.
