Can you turn the LED's all the way off if you need to?

Yes.  You can go into the settings and turn off all of the lights.  You would also need to turn off sleep mode through Cougar's UNIX. You can get this program from their website which lets customize the key lighting.  The key response with this keyboard is ridiculously fast, which takes some time getting used to.  Overall I find this keyboard to be an excellent purchase.

Do those macro keys have on-board memory so I can use them without downloading the software again when I switch to a new computer?

Yes it does have on-board memory and the saved macro's can be use on another device that doesn't have the software installed, it has three profiles that can be set. I just tried plugging this keyboard into my laptop which does not have the software installed, and all the saved macro keys worked as they should as well as the rest of the keys. Of course, to set the macro keys you will need to have the software installed, but if you already have a saved profile it will work on another device just fine.

Does this keyboard work when connected through a USB to PS/2 adapter?

No, a PS/2 port does not deliver enough power. Also a good indicator if a keyboard will work on PS/2 is if it is listed as having PS/2 adapter listed in the contents. If it's not included it does not support it.

according to the website yes.  That being said if I could've found one I'd have went with that.

the 700k appears to come with either cherry mx blue, black, red or brown switches, which version is this?
