Has anyone tried this card with an ATT Uverse DVR and successfully been able to capture off the DVR hard drive to the computer with decent resolution?

I use my DirecTV DVR and it captures without a hitch, using both the HDMI and the component wires.

I have a samsung cablevision (optimum) cable box and want to record HD tv shows i just want to make sure that if i get this card I can watch and record HD tv and i can use a hdmi cable to connect to it?. Thank you

Hello yes this card can record HDTV it may or may not work with the hdmi cable.  It depends on the cable box whether it has encrypted hdmi output.  If your cable box has  component outputs that is red green and blue outputs this will work, and to get Dolby 5.1 you need to use the optical cable hookup.  You can get 1920 by 1080i and Dolby 5.1.
    I would suggest not using the software that comes with the card a better choice would be fined a copy of video redoit  TV suite version four.  Use that this program to edit your videos and burn it with a copy of nero version 12 or higher.

Question 3

I have a cable box with coax IN and HDMI OUT.  Can I run an HDMI cord from the cable box HDMI OUT to the HDMI IN on this card and record HD TV to my HTPC using Windows Media Center?  I see all sorts of talk about component cables but I want to use HDMI.

I have onboard HDMI on the motherboard of the HTPC and will use that to send the signal to the TV.

Glenn, I'd be using the HDMI out from my motherboard, not the Colossus.  The HDMI IN is the only thing on the Colossus I'd be using.  But I'm seeing a definite "theme" here where it appears any attempt to use an HDMI cable to carry the signal from the converter box to any TV tuner card that can record is being blocked.

I thought for certain that an HDMI OUT from the cable box that's already been decrypted and is currently going to the TV, would just as easily go to the HDMI IN on a TV Tuner card.

Will this work with a composite input or only component?

I bought this item in 2014, tho I've never had the need to input composite video.  Nonetheless, I know that this card handles composite video input, per the included manual; it states:

"you can connect the Composite video output of your set top box (normally the yellow RCA connector on a set top box) to the Blue connector on the A/V cable set"

The cable set they're referring to is an included connecting cable that it designed for Component video input, but it obviously can handle Composite as well, via the blue Component connection line on the cable.  Again, I've not tried this, but the manual states it works.

BTW, I find it interesting that the manual doesn't mention (that I can find) that there is an included A/V cable (not 100% sure if it's for input, output, or if it can be used for both, but I suspect it's for input, and / or works for both I/O) that has a dedicated RCA plug Composite connector, along with RCA plug stereo audio connectors, *and* an S-video connector too... again, all on the same A/V cable !  So, with a cable that's seemingly dedicated for Composite input, I find it odd that the manual proposes that a person use the Component cable for Composite input.

Finally, I'm sure that most reading this are aware of something (including the question writer), but some won't be, so I'll note it; while they make mention of a 'set top box', referring to a cable tv box, it's 100% for sure that *ANY* composite video output from *ANY* device will work with the setup they describe.  That includes a VCR, old computer / gaming console, etc.  I know this from 30+ years of working with composite video sources.

I want to use this card for transferring old VHS-c tapes to DVD. Probably via Cables nit hdmi. Will it do this well? Has anyone used it for this?

It works just fine to capture video to a video file but you will need DVD authoring software to put it on a DVD.  I would recommend capturing with the composite interface on the card since that is the native format for vhs.

Question 6

The specs say:
1.  Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit); it doesn't give that detail for Vista. Will it work with Vista 64-bit?

2.  A sound card is needed. Will integrated Realtek HD R2.7, driver version 2.11.15.0 work?

1. The manufacturers website says that it works for Windows Vista, just make sure you get the right drivers from the site.

2. It should work with any sound card as long as the sound card works.

As long as it has a open 1x full hieght pcie slot and you are running windows, then yes it will work.

I have a dell t5500, I see a pci-x slot, a pci card slot, a pci express 2.0x16 and a pci express 2.0x16(wired as x8)
question can i use this card ?, do not know if pci express x1 card could be use on any of this slots I have. thanks

Normally I would say yes. 2.0 slots should be backward compatible but Dell
Is so proprietary. I'm not sure it will take. If it doesn't work no harm will be done.Worst it can do is give you an error message
