Is this cartridge brand new or is it a re-used cartridge in any way?

It's brand new....the "X" is the larger capacity toner cartridge so you don't have to change it as often.  There's kind of a extension block on the top of the cartridge to allow more toner to be in the cartridge.  Yes, it all fits into the printer like it was made to do...there isn't anything special you need to do.

I always buy the manufacturers brand of ink/toner.  I know there are cheaper alternatives and they probably work and perform just as good.  I figure that the maker of the printer knows what they are doing for these consumables - it's just my preference.

Anyway, it's a new product all sealed up and ready for installation.

i only use orignal toner, and i buy most of my toners from newegg, i never got an openbox from them, and if i did, it said in the description OPENBOX.
